German designer Karl Lagerfeld passed away today at the age of 85. The creative director of Chanel and Fendi, Lagerfeld was an icon in the fashion world and was responsible for many major concepts and trends. He had been unwell for many weeks now, even missing out on Chanel's haute couture show in January.
He began working with Chanel in 1983, a decade after Coco Chanel died. He later launched his own designer label and began taking over the industry. He was also well known for his iconic styling, which involved wearing dark suits, his long hair in a ponytail, and tinted glasses.
