The Black Friday sales are almost here, but you won't catch us shopping 🙅 Instead, let's #TurnBlackFridayRed 🔴 ⠀ ⠀ Homelessness is on the rise, with around 85k households in the UK living in insecure housing! 😨 Not only does this weekend of discounts encourage wasteful consumption, we also firmly believe your money could be put to better use! 🤑 The whopping £7bn spent in the UK alone over the course of the next 4 days would cover 4 years worth of organic period products for everyone with periods in the UK 😱 and with 1 in 10 of us living in period poverty - this is a REAL game changer! ⠀ ⠀ This weekend, will you join us and @sh24_nhs in skipping the stores and donating some of your favourite period products to those in need? 😍⠀ ⠀ #RedFriday #blackfriday2019 #blackfriday #cybermonday #endblackfriday #boycottblackfriday #periodpoverty #menstruationnation #plasticfreeperiods

Our newest post series is titled ‘Flow Fact’, and here we’ll fill you in on some of the strange and wonderful things your body experiences when menstruating. Flow Fact #1 The menstrual cycle can affect how you sound! When you are in the ovulating stage of your cycle, you can sound more high-pitched than usual, due to all the hormonal changes in your body. Did you hear us, or do we have to be shrill? ; ) Image by @food.period #flowfacts #periodpains #happyishealthy #loveyourbody #womenwoes #menstruation #periods #facts

Being all wet and soggy down there isn’t a great feeling. Honestly, we hate it. That’s why we made our Cosyfluff Night Pads to be extra-long and super-absorbent so that worrying about leaks during your period is the last thing on your mind. Try out the Laiqa pads to know the difference.

Anything from the length of your cycle to the textures and colors you see may indicate something important about your health. You may see colors of blood ranging from black to bright red, brown to orange. Although most colors can be considered “normal” or “healthy,” others may be reason to see your doctor. Always keep a check on the colour of your blood during periods. It’s very important to have a healthy period. • • • • • • #heyday #heydaycare #personalcare #sanitarynapkins #100percentorganic #naturalsanitarypads #rashfree #naturalpersonalcare #biodegradable #yourshareofcare #ecofriendly #heydaysanitarynapkins #periodrevolution #girlgang #healthygirls #makegooddecisions #plantbasedfibres #healthychoices #periodblood #makebetterdecisions #thisworldisnotwhatyouthinkitis #thisworldexists #chooseheydaytoday #periodpoverty

The plastic present in non-organic pads can also cause irritation and allergic reactions. The consequences of using such products have led many socially conscious consumers to turn to eco-friendly alternatives.   If you have been contemplating to make the switch to organic pads, you, my friend, have come to the right place. Here are 10 ways you can get that flat tummy you deserve! \r\n \r\n","modified":"2020-08-08 12:14:25","status":"1","field_full_dek":"This WTF scenario is actually pretty common and can truly suck in the summer, when bloat makes your high-waisted shorts and skimpy swimsuits feel like medieval torture devices. \r\nHere’s what gives: a large, high-fat meal can indeed lead to the proverbial food-baby feeling—but that’s not the only reason for a distended belly. Most often, the true culprit is gas, says Sonya Angelone, RDN, a spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in the US. This is especially likely if you’re eating fibre-rich foods (read: kale, beans, fruit). “Almost any high-fibre food, even in a reasonable portion, can make you feel bloated,” explains Sonya. \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nThat’s because your stomach’s digestive enzymes have to work extra hard to digest this good-for-you fare. And sometimes, your gut can’t completely finish the job, leaving little remnants of your lunch salad to slip into your intestines. This is where things get really gassy. “When bacteria in your large intestine feed on your lunch leftovers, this causes gas,” explains Sonya. The whole process can leave you feeling like an overly inflated air mattress. \r\nObviously, the answer is not to skip nutritious meals. Instead, follow these simple rules to quickly nix other surprising, gas-causing behaviour. \r\n\r\n1. Stop Sucking\r\nSkip straws, gum, and cigs (come on, girl). All three are surefire ways to introduce excess air into your digestive system, says gastroenterologist Sophie Balzora, MD, an assistant professor of medicine at NYU School of Medicine.\r\n\r\n2. Lay Off Artificial Sweeteners \r\nFake sugars such as aspartame and sucralose are bloat-causing, says Robin Foroutan, a registered dietitian nutritionist in New York City. Your body can’t digest them like real sugar, so they end up in your gut, making gas.  \r\n\r\n3. Don’t Eat and Drink\r\nTrue, downing H2O while -dining can keep you from overeating—but gulping it also dilutes the all-important -stomach acid that breaks down food, says Robin. When this process is compromised, some of the stuff you eat doesn’t get digested and is shuttled into your intestines, where...yep, bloat. Aim to drink no more than 750ml of water while you eat (then take
in as much as you want 30 minutes post-meal).\r\n\r\n4.Cook Your Veggies \r\nEspecially if they’re the -cruciferous kind (broccoli, -cauliflower, brussels sprouts), which have a tonne of fibre and are harder for your body to process. In general, steaming, roasting, or grilling them will initiate fibre breakdown. \r\n\r\n5.Swap In Some Smoothies\r\nSince they’re already blended, shakes—even those made with veggies—are less challenging for your tum. Try using -almond or hemp milk in lieu of dairy (lactose is bloating for many people) and an easy-on-your-system protein powder made from peas or rice. You could also toss in some pine-apple or papaya, which contains -natural digestive enzymes.\r\n\r\n6.Nosh Stinky Foods \r\n“Nourishing your good gut bacteria by feeding them -probiotic-rich foods helps fight the inflammation that stresses your digestive system and causes bloat,” says NYC health coach Robyn Youkilis, author
of Thin From Within. “Adding -fermented foods like sauerkraut to every meal will help you break down nutrients more easily.” Other options: kombucha, yoghurt, and kimchi. \r\n\r\n7.Serious Swelling \r\nA persistent distended stomach, especially with abdominal pain, vomiting, or rectal or -vaginal bleeding, can be a sign of issues like inflammatory bowel disease, ulcers, or a bowel -obstruction, says Sophie Balzora, MD. In rare cases, it may even signal cancer, so see a doc ASAP.\r\n\r\n\r\nSOS!\r\nTo deflate in 24 hours, try this:\r\n\r\n\r\n1. Brew Some Tea  \r\nSpecifically, dandelion or caffeinated green or black tea. They act as a mild diuretic that flushes excess water out of your system to help you de-puff.\r\n\r\n2. Pop an OTC Gas Remedy \r\nThese meds’ main ingredient, simethicone, breaks gas bubbles in your gut into smaller -bubbles, -allowing them to dissolve.\r\n\r\n3. Bounce Around \r\nThe impact from moves like jumping jacks and -jogging
can push gas through your bowels pretty quickly, which will give -gravity a key assist, says Sonya.  \r\n","ordering_date":"2020-08-08 12:14:14","type":"story","field_meta_title":null,"field_meta_description":null,"field_meta_keyword":null,"image":"https://akm-img-a-in.tosshub.com/sites/cosmo/sites/default/files/2020-07/FB_Nikon_DSC_8944-2x1_0.jpg?f3GcrSwDp2zA4w_nqYifkPVD93875QkA","image1x1":"https://akm-img-a-in.tosshub.com/sites/cosmo/sites/default/files/2020-07/FB_Nikon_DSC_8944-2x1_0.jpg?f3GcrSwDp2zA4w_nqYifkPVD93875QkA","field_editory_by":null,"path":"/life/features/a20717/10-ways-stop-your-belly-bloating","created":"09 July 2020","time_created":"2020-07-09T00:00:01+05:30","created_date_time":"2020-07-09 00:00:01","field_section":"Life","field_section_url":"/life","field_content_type":"Features","notes":null,"notes_syn":null,"userData_node":null,"userData":{"uid":"641","field_first_name":"Team Cosmo","editor_sef":"/author/641/teamcosmo"},"field_first_name":"Team Cosmo","authorpath":null,"userPicUrl":null},{"nid":"21148","title":"Your Hand Sanitiser Could Be Harming Your Skin","field_dek":"Dermat-approved ways to fix the side effects of excessive use of hand sanitisers\r\n","modified":"2020-08-07 19:04:44","status":"1","field_full_dek":"Amidst the pandemic, we have made hand santisers our content ally. Don’t let the fear of wrinkling your favourite kicks keep you from flaunting them. Take a damp cotton cloth and spread it on the crease, now steam-iron on top. Once the sneakers cool, you will notice a remarkable difference!\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n\r\n\tMake Your Pale-Whites Brighter With A Toothpaste\r\n\r\n\r\nToothpaste doesn’t just double as an acne zapper. It also works as a great cleaning agent for your once-white tennis shoes. Take a dollop of non-gel white toothpaste, and using an old toothbrush, apply it on the dirty, dark spots on the fabric. You can even do this on the white sides of the shoes. Let it be for about 10-15 minutes before wiping off with a damp towel.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\tAdd Grip With Sandpaper\r\n\r\n\r\nThis one’s a savior for new shoes that feel slippery, or old shoes with an ebbed grip. Scrubbing the back of your shoes with sandpaper can lend some traction to the sole.\r\n\r\nPsst: you can even try a hot glue gun—make with thick bulgy glue-lines on the sole. Once cooled, they can come in handy to provide some grip.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\tPrevent Blisters With A Deodarant\r\n\r\n\r\nApply some clear gel-deodorant on the back and sides of your shoes, and prepare to party the night away in those bbs without any blister-woes. The gel works as a sort of a lubricant, also creating a barrier to protect your skin from friction.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\tGet Rid of Shoe Odour Using Tea Bags (Or Baking Soda)\r\n\r\n\r\nThis can’t prevent toe jam, but can definitely prevent your shoes from smelling unpleasant. Put unused tea bags in your footwear—they absorbing the scent, leaving them odourless. You can also give baking soda a go—sprinkle some into the shoes and let it sit overnight. Baking soda has special properties that effectively rid shoes of smells.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\tTo Loosen Them, Freeze Them\r\n\r\n\r\nThis hack works only for the tip of the shoe, though. Put an airtight bag (filled with some water) in the toe area of the shoe. Now slip the shoe in the freezer for the night. Tada: your toes will fit better as the toe would have widened!\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\tWaterproof Your Shoes With Beeswax\r\n\r\n\r\nWhich, in turn, will also make your shoes less susceptible to getting stained. And will make the colour of your shoes last longer. You can rub a small candle on to them, to build a nice thick coat, and set it with a hairdryer.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\tAbsorb Sweat With Panty Liners \r\n\r\n\r\nPlace panty liners inside your shoes to soak the sweat from your feet. This will make for a firmer grip of your feet inside, and keep them from slipping and chafing. It will also result in less odour in the shoes.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\tWear Heels More comfortably By Taping the Toes \r\n\r\n\r\nTry taping the third and fourth toes. This will distribute the weight better, and relieve tension and over-straining of the nerve between these toes, and prevents any pain in the ball of your foot. Just make sure you don’t end up stopping the blood circulation in the process—the toes shouldn’t be taped too tight.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\t Stop the Squeaking With Talc\r\n\r\n\r\nThat annoying squeak occurs when various parts of your footwear rub against one another. Sprinkle some baby powder in the inner sole of the shoe and watch the noise disappear!\r\n\r\n\r\n","ordering_date":"2020-08-07 19:00:20","type":"story","field_meta_title":null,"field_meta_description":null,"field_meta_keyword":null,"image":"https://akm-img-a-in.tosshub.com/sites/cosmo/sites/default/files/2020-08/Screenshot%202020-08-07%20at%205.38.50%20PM_0.png?tTb21lzIQlzT4GJgIcDKrvpjR7LKVCr5","image1x1":"https://akm-img-a-in.tosshub.com/sites/cosmo/sites/default/files/2020-08/Screenshot%202020-08-07%20at%205.38.50%20PM_0.png?tTb21lzIQlzT4GJgIcDKrvpjR7LKVCr5","field_editory_by":null,"path":"/life/features/a21147/10-genius-shoe-hacks-will-change-your-shoe-life","created":"07 August 2020","time_created":"2020-08-07T18:24:16+05:30","created_date_time":"2020-08-07 18:24:16","field_section":"Life","field_section_url":"/life","field_content_type":"Features","notes":null,"notes_syn":null,"userData_node":null,"userData":{"uid":"639","field_first_name":"Humra Afroz Khan","editor_sef":"/author/639/hafroz"},"field_first_name":"Humra Afroz Khan","authorpath":null,"userPicUrl":null},{"nid":"21103","title":"People With Toxic Siblings Are Sharing the Signs to look out for","field_dek":"\"When you've grown up with them, but thrive without them.\"\r\n","modified":"2020-08-07 15:11:27","status":"1","field_full_dek":"Sibling rivalry and competition between siblings is all part of growing up with a sibling, but when does a bit of harmless teasing become something more serious, or toxic? People are sharing their experiences with toxic siblings, and highlight some of the warning signs that a sibling's behaviour is becoming toxic.\r\n\r\n1. \"Brings you down with them because they’re not happy with themselves. Tells you lies about other people/family members to manipulate you. Is super fickle. Tells you one thing and the next day another, and when you remind them of what they originally said they call you a liar. Gaslighting. Is jealous of you. Super codependent. Criticises you and gives you their opinion when you didn’t ask for it. Tries to get you to argue with them out of nowhere.\"\r\n\r\n2. \"When you've grown up with them, but thrive without them. When they're abusive to everyone in the house, and appear charming in front of others. Explosive rage, and just generally picks fights over nothing during mundane conversation. They don't care and even mock your mental disorder.\" \r\n\r\n3. \"Manipulation, lack of respect and boundaries, lack of respect for your belongings. Toxic siblings are real though, so tread carefully. My brother has been toxic and abusive my whole life.\" \r\n\r\n4. \"Putting you down at every opportunity, mocking your clothes, hobbies, friends, calling you ugly and fat, having to have everything you do or more, even if that means taking it away from you, talking badly about you to the rest of the family.\" \r\n\r\n5. \"In the case of my brother, I was supposed to always be his shoulder to lean on. He had a fight with our mother and wanted me to sit on the phone with him and hash it out, rehash, discuss everything for hours a day. When I was going through a divorce? Well, I needed to figure that out myself. There was really uneven emotional support expectations which also may be gender roles but I had to be there for him but suck it up for me.\"\r\n\r\n6. \"She cannot hold a positive conversation with anyone if other siblings are around, as she’s too busy spending the entire time trying to belittle them. It can be anything, from the clothes you’re wearing, your makeup, to what you’re eating. If she can verbally attack it, she will. Maybe she believes it makes her look better...\" \r\n\r\n7. \"If you're looking for signs that your sibling is consciously trying to manipulate, hurt, or gain power over you, the key IMO is to look for intention, justification, and effect. My older brother was violent for years until he couldn't get away with it anymore, then he started damaging things that belonged to whoever he was angry at. He would always defend himself by screaming that it was an accident. So I started watching him to see which items he grabbed and broke, and they would always belong to the target. I called him out and he justified it by saying we deserved to be punished for disrespecting him. Finally, what was the effect? Every time we fought, something of ours was destroyed - reinforcing the idea that we needed to stay out of his way or we would lose things.\" \r\n\r\n8. \"A classic manipulation strategy is to separate different people and tell them different stories. I would come home and my family would be furious, based on something my brother had told them while I wasn't there. Then, I had to simultaneously defend myself and try to carefully suggest that my brother was doing this on purpose.\" \r\n","ordering_date":"2020-08-07 15:11:15","type":"story","field_meta_title":null,"field_meta_description":null,"field_meta_keyword":null,"image":"https://akm-img-a-in.tosshub.com/sites/cosmo/sites/default/files/2020-08/mwg6aedttc2kecxiyccw.jpg?MX7OQ6D12FWCFy2cUVmBjTawK8w_dCM5","image1x1":"https://akm-img-a-in.tosshub.com/sites/cosmo/sites/default/files/2020-08/mwg6aedttc2kecxiyccw.jpg?MX7OQ6D12FWCFy2cUVmBjTawK8w_dCM5","field_editory_by":null,"path":"/life/features/a21103/people-toxic-siblings-are-sharing-signs-look-out","created":"03 August 2020","time_created":"2020-08-03T17:15:00+05:30","created_date_time":"2020-08-03 17:15:00","field_section":"Life","field_section_url":"/life","field_content_type":"Features","notes":"https://www.cosmopolitan.com/uk/love-sex/relationships/a33496777/toxic-sibling/","notes_syn":"Cosmopolitan","userData_node":null,"userData":{"uid":"641","field_first_name":"Team Cosmo","editor_sef":"/author/641/teamcosmo"},"field_first_name":"Team Cosmo","authorpath":null,"userPicUrl":null},{"nid":"21143","title":"3 Things to Keep in Mind Before You Commit in a Relationship","field_dek":"Sometimes love is not enough to make relationships work. Whether it is parental or peer pressure, the societal norms about being the 'right age' or just the fact that you think you found 'The One' — whatever is your reason to commit to someone, it is a good idea to step back and take a good look at your relationship. Millennial marriage coach, speaker and author Leena Paranjpe agrees. Or, your co-worker casually putting his mask down on his desk every now and then (his desk, his rules!)?\r\n\r\nNot only are these sights highly unsafe, but they are also cringe-worthy, socially disrespectful, and in some cases, downright rude. And many a time, the offenders actually end up causing discomfort to the others around inadvertently, without even meaning to.\r\n\r\nSo other than the obvious—always wearing a mask—here are some golden mask-rules you should keep in mind the next time you step out in public, to make sure you don’t fall in this sorry category…\r\n\r\nWear It Properly, As Prescribed By the Experts\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nThis means it should rest snug on your face, covering your nose, lips, and chin entirely. And make sure your can breathe easily in it. And this wear-decorum applies to the entire time you are out and among people—even when you’re chatting on the phone, say hi to a passerby, placing your order at the grocery store, and all else in between. No cutting corners on this front! Also, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends washing your hands before touching the mask to put in on.\r\n\r\nWhen Eating Out, Put It Away Responsibly\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nWhether you’re having a socially-distanced lunch with friends or on a date with bae, always stay masked up, even on entering the restaurant, until you’re seated. (CDC prescribes that one wear masks at all times, when in public, around people who don’t live in your household.) You can take it off when you’re eating or drinking, but there’s a rule for that too: just like for all other of your belongings, never leave the mask on the table. One, it is bad manners; and also, you don’t want your germs spreading all over. When done eating, don’t forget to put the mask back on, even if just making a quick dash to the restroom.\r\n\r\nAvoid Any Mask-Meltdowns \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nSo no getting into arguments or rows with people who are not wearing a mask, or when you’re told to mask up! It is compulsory to wear masks in public, so if you catch someone breaking the mandate, don’t be afraid to bring it up, sternly yet politely.\r\n\r\nIf you think all reasoning is falling on deaf ears, it’s best to not create a scene: put yourself first, and either simply leave the place, or ensure you maintain enough distance to be out of any potential virus’s way as much as possible. If you’re the one not wearing a masks and are being asked to, listen to them and please WEAR one!\r\n\r\nMake Sure Your Mask Is in Shipshape\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nYou wouldn’t want to step out in tattered clothes, broken footwear, or raggedy accessories, would you? So you certainly have no reason to show up in unbecoming masks, either. There are a number of choices available—from high street to couture—for masks these days. But even if you want to keep it simple and subtle, make sure your mask is at least a functional one, not a makeshift piece of cloth, or worse still, damaged. The WHO, CDC, and other numerous organisations and health experts state simple requirements for the masks, do look them up and get an appropriate mask that serves the purpose.\r\n\r\nCDC, though, advises against using masks meant for healthcare workers—surgical and N95 respirators etc—as they are critical supplies and “should be reserved for healthcare workers and other first responders”.\r\n\r\nCast It Off With Precaution \r\n\r\n\r\nTake it off by untying the strings from behind your head or stretching the ear loops, according to CDC. Handle it only by the ear loops or ties. Now fold the outside corners together and place the mask in the washing machine. CDC says you can include your face coverings in your regular laundry or with other clothes if washing by hand. Later, put the mask in direct sunlight or use the highest heat setting on your dryer. Be careful not to touch your eyes, nose, and mouth when removing the mask, and wash hands immediately after removing. If you’re wearing a disposable mask, don’t re-use them and make sure you read all instructions by experts on how to discard them responsibly.\r\n","ordering_date":"2020-08-07 02:42:41","type":"story","field_meta_title":null,"field_meta_description":null,"field_meta_keyword":null,"image":"https://akm-img-a-in.tosshub.com/sites/cosmo/sites/default/files/2020-08/Consumer-wearing-face-mask_1.jpg?ZdyiAZhdW9QCvCf63zmX3FUthnA1q8AV","image1x1":"https://akm-img-a-in.tosshub.com/sites/cosmo/sites/default/files/2020-08/Consumer-wearing-face-mask_1.jpg?ZdyiAZhdW9QCvCf63zmX3FUthnA1q8AV","field_editory_by":null,"path":"/life/features/a21140/etiquette-follow-when-you-wear-face-mask","created":"06 August 2020","time_created":"2020-08-06T18:40:14+05:30","created_date_time":"2020-08-06 18:40:14","field_section":"Life","field_section_url":"/life","field_content_type":"Features","notes":null,"notes_syn":null,"userData_node":null,"userData":{"uid":"639","field_first_name":"Humra Afroz Khan","editor_sef":"/author/639/hafroz"},"field_first_name":"Humra Afroz Khan","authorpath":null,"userPicUrl":null},{"nid":"21137","title":"Important Life Lessons That Will Make You a Better Leader at Work ","field_dek":"Women in Leadership Roles: Jasleen Kaur Gumber, GM-Marketing, Benetton India gives us valuable tips on how to succeed at the workplace\r\n","modified":"2020-08-06 19:25:01","status":"1","field_full_dek":"It isn’t easy for a woman to take on a leadership role in a male-dominated orgnaisation. It takes hard work, dedication, discipline and some smart thinking on the toes to get to that place. Jasleen Kaur Gumber, GM-Marketing, Benetton India, gives us a peek into her life, tells us about her journey and shares some valuable lessons that she has learnt in the process.   \r\n\r\nCosmo: What's a typical day for you like?\r\n\r\nJasleen Kaur Gumber: My typical day has agency briefing calls, video meetings with tech companies and advertisers and typing out a lot of mails.\r\n\r\nI am also quite a ppt person, so once in a while one would see me buried under the weight of many slides!\r\n\r\nApart from this, I ensure I daily read about the top industry trends, innovations and being a marketer- I also have to dedicate a substantial amount of my time to Instagram. That’s where you spot the pop culture.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nJasleen Kaur Gumber\r\n\r\nCosmo: What is the most valuable professional lesson you have learnt?\r\n\r\nJKG: Take the right decision, that’s why you have been hired! Sometimes, doing the right thing isn’t the easiest, you might have to go against the tide, offend a few people. But whenever you will look back, you will be proud that you contributed in the most constructive ways. And this has always helped me take my decisions.\r\n\r\nCosmo: What are some of the mistakes you have made and what did you learn from them?\r\n\r\nJKG: Delegation is an art that only comes with time. In the early days of my career, I wanted to do everything myself owing to which I created some horrible time-management case studies. I goofed up some of my deadlines too. Because I was striving for perfection and I thought it could only be achieved if I do it all myself. I was clearly, naïve.\r\n\r\nI have become good with multi-tasking now. I know what work I need to outsource and what I need to do myself. I think, you are wiser when you understand the value of your time and effort.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nCosmo: What are some of the challenges you face in your area of work?\r\n\r\nJKG: Leading a marketing function means managing a lot of things together, at the same time, in the same breath. All channels- PR, social media, content, campaigns have to run in tandem.\r\n\r\nCollaboration is the only way to combat this challenge and I feel I do spend a lot of time getting my agencies, teams and vendors on the same page. Everyone should be equally excited and invested. For me this is the first step, if I have everyone rolling together, for the common objective, results are always outstanding.\r\n\r\nCosmo: Who are your female role models?\r\n\r\nJKG: If someone would have asked me this question 10 years back- I would have given an impressive list but honestly, I don’t believe in role models anymore.\r\n\r\nThere is something fundamentally wrong with idealizing people and role modelling their success. People overlook their own uniqueness and want to fit into someone else’ shoes.\r\n\r\nI do however, believe in successful traits and characteristics and I focus more on imbibing qualities.\r\n\r\nCosmo: How do you balance your personal and professional life?\r\n\r\nJKG: I guess, I am still looking out for the perfect recipe. I was taking work calls, a little, before I delivered my baby!\r\n\r\nCosmo: How do you unwind?\r\n\r\nJKG: I am a literature major so nothing relaxes me more than a good read. I am simple that way, a warm cup of coffee and an engrossing book puts me in a good mood.\r\n\r\nCosmo: What skills and specific training does one need to work in your industry?\r\n\r\nA formal management degree does help you understand the strategic concepts and market trends. Beyond that, marketing function relies heavily on good communications skills, creative thinking and a consumer-centric mindset. Having said that, I do believe some people are gifted marketers even without any formal education. He recalled:\r\n\r\n\"She came out holding like handfuls of shoes and bags and just dumped them all down on the couch. Then said, 'What do you think?', so I went through them all and I found a pair of Chanel shoes, and I said, 'Well these would look great with the Versace,' and she said 'No, I can't wear linked Cs, the double C.' So I asked why, and she said, 'It's Camilla and Charles.'\"\r\n\r\nJayson added, \"It was definitely the timing, it being post-divorce. She would have seen linked Cs and they would have just reminded her of Charles and Camilla. The shoes were quite boldly Chanel, I think they had gold linked Cs on them. And I think for photo optics, people would have honed in on that considering it was so fresh after the divorce as well.\"\r\n\r\nDiana and Charles divorced in 1996, so it's totally understandable why she wasn't ready to wear the Chanel logo so soon after the affair and split.\r\n","ordering_date":"2020-08-06 17:29:18","type":"story","field_meta_title":null,"field_meta_description":null,"field_meta_keyword":null,"image":"https://akm-img-a-in.tosshub.com/sites/cosmo/sites/default/files/2020-08/https---cdn.cnn_.com-cnnnext-dam-assets-181005144539-royal-portrait-tease-3.jpg?8QwNWrdwkhoP2NSD94tNI32ah9Digj3j","image1x1":"https://akm-img-a-in.tosshub.com/sites/cosmo/sites/default/files/2020-08/https---cdn.cnn_.com-cnnnext-dam-assets-181005144539-royal-portrait-tease-3.jpg?8QwNWrdwkhoP2NSD94tNI32ah9Digj3j","field_editory_by":null,"path":"/life/features/a21101/why-princess-diana-refused-wear-chanel-logo-after-her-divorce","created":"03 August 2020","time_created":"2020-08-03T21:23:00+05:30","created_date_time":"2020-08-03 21:23:00","field_section":"Life","field_section_url":"/life","field_content_type":"Features","notes":"https://www.cosmopolitan.com/entertainment/celebs/a33499394/princess-diana-refused-chanel-logo-divorce-prince-charles/","notes_syn":"Cosmopolitan","userData_node":null,"userData":{"uid":"641","field_first_name":"Team Cosmo","editor_sef":"/author/641/teamcosmo"},"field_first_name":"Team Cosmo","authorpath":null,"userPicUrl":null},{"nid":"21136","title":"5 Myths About Losing Belly Fat And What Actually Works!","field_dek":"We get an expert to sift facts from fiction and help you get a flat stomach\r\n","modified":"2020-08-06 16:59:06","status":"1","field_full_dek":"Who doesn’t want a flat tummy and a svelte figure? Especially in this lockdown where unhealthy snacking at home has led to a few unwanted bulges here and there. Many, in fact, have been looking around for ways to trim the waistline. And for good reason too - those extra inches around your midriff not only stop you from wearing crop tops “but could also pose a serious health risk if you don’t do something about them,” says Jitendra Chouksey, founder of Fittr, a fitness social network and consultation platform. \r\n\r\nBut if you think sauna belts, endless ab crunches and juice detoxes are going to help you lose weight around your waist, think again! “Far too many people have tried and failed to lose belly fat this way. There’s a very simple reason for this – spot reduction does not work!” Adds Jitendra.\r\n\r\nWhat Is “Belly Fat”?\r\n\r\nVisceral fat (the fat that accumulates around the organs in your abdominal region) and subcutaneous fat (the fat that you find rolling around your waistline) together make up what we call “belly fat”. \r\n\r\nThere are a lot of misconceptions about losing this stubborn fat, we look at the top 5 myths – and what actually works:\r\n\r\nMyth #1: You can target and lose fat from your belly\r\n\r\nThis is common myth. Think about it for a minute: what would happen if you lost weight only from your waist but still had flabby arms and a double chin? Your body simply isn’t built that way.\r\n\r\nJItendra, explains, “when you decide to lose weight/fat, you do so by creating a caloric deficit i.e. by consuming fewer calories than you burn. This results in fat loss and it is your overall weight that will reduce. Some body parts may lose faster than others, but you will lose fat from wherever it is in excess.”\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nMyth #2: Eating rice increases belly fat\r\n\r\n“Eat rice, get fat!” Is another common myth.  No, you won’t! Rice is a source of carbohydrates. 100 grams of rice contains the same calories as 100 grams of dal or 100 grams of your favourite fruit. \r\n\r\n“You will gain weight if you eat too many calories over a period of time, be it from any source of food,” adds Jitendra. As for the claim that rice goes straight to your belly and stays there, that’s not true. It does give you a feeling of fullness but that just means you have a happy belly, not a fat one!\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nMyth #3: Ab crunches melt belly fat\r\n\r\nTry this experiment: Pick up a ball of dough, stretch it in your hands and then fold it in the middle. That’s your body doing ab crunches. \r\n\r\nAb crunches will make your ab muscles stronger but Jitendra explains that if you want to make them pop and get that chiseled look, you will need to lose fat. And that’s only going to happen if you take care of your diet. (Calories in vs Calories Out).\r\n\r\nMyth #4: Low calories are the best way to lose belly fat\r\n\r\n“Along with endless ab crunches, the other thing I see people do is drastically reduce the amount of food they consume,” says Jitendra. That feeling of emptiness you experience isn’t your belly fat melting, it’s your body telling you that it needs nourishment. \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nHere’s what works: instead of eating less, try and increase your daily activity levels. “Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis or NEAT are all those physical activities you do apart from exercise,” he adds. For instance, take the stairs instead of the lift, do house work, go for a walk, get a standing desk for your WFH – all these will burn additional calories and help you create a caloric deficit.\r\n\r\nMyth #5: Avoiding fatty foods will help you lose your belly fat\r\n\r\nSome people think they’ve figured it out – don’t want to get fat? Just avoid all fats! Problem solved. Sadly, this doesn’t work in real life. Truth be told, fats such as butter, ghee, olive oil are satiating foods (i.e. they help you stay full for longer) and also help your hormones function as they should. \r\n\r\nThe issue is that fats can sneak into your diet and are easy to overeat. That drizzle of olive oil in your healthy salad could be a few tablespoons and high in calories. Sprinkle almonds and walnuts on top and you’ve made yourself a fat bomb! And let’s not forget the “handful” of peanuts that you enjoy eating with your afternoon chai.\r\n\r\nJitendra suggests you consume fats in moderation. They should be a part of a healthy diet. Count how much you’re consuming, stay within your calorie limits and there’s no reason why you’ll pack on the pounds.\r\n\r\nTakeaway\r\n\r\nFat loss is not a linear process. You can’t wish away your belly, especially when the rest of you also needs to slim down. Follow a sustainable diet, get exercise daily and remain active. These are the only things that work. \r\n","ordering_date":"2020-08-06 16:50:26","type":"story","field_meta_title":null,"field_meta_description":"belly fat myths,\r\n\r\nmyths about belly fat,\r\n\r\nflat stomach tips,\r\n\r\nflat stomach exercises,\r\n\r\nflat stomach diet,\r\n\r\nflat stomach workout,\r\n\r\nflat stomach foods,\r\nhow to lose belly fat,\r\n\r\nbelly fat workout,\r\n\r\nbelly fat diet plan,\r\nhow to burn belly fat,\r\ncosmopolitan\r\ncosmopolitan India","field_meta_keyword":"belly fat myths,\r\n\r\nmyths about belly fat,\r\n\r\nflat stomach tips,\r\n\r\nflat stomach exercises,\r\n\r\nflat stomach diet,\r\n\r\nflat stomach workout,\r\n\r\nflat stomach foods,\r\nhow to lose belly fat,\r\n\r\nbelly fat workout,\r\n\r\nbelly fat diet plan,\r\nhow to burn belly fat,\r\ncosmopolitan\r\ncosmopolitan India","image":"https://akm-img-a-in.tosshub.com/sites/cosmo/sites/default/files/2020-08/disha%20abs_0.jpg?MT8M6EjW_Tv.5hIjNqPZBnFoaZxwKD0z","image1x1":"https://akm-img-a-in.tosshub.com/sites/cosmo/sites/default/files/2020-08/disha%20abs_0.jpg?MT8M6EjW_Tv.5hIjNqPZBnFoaZxwKD0z","field_editory_by":null,"path":"/life/features/a21136/5-myths-about-losing-belly-fat-and-what-actually-works","created":"06 August 2020","time_created":"2020-08-06T16:40:31+05:30","created_date_time":"2020-08-06 16:40:31","field_section":"Life","field_section_url":"/life","field_content_type":"Features","notes":null,"notes_syn":null,"userData_node":null,"userData":{"uid":"636","field_first_name":"Chirag Mohanty Samal","editor_sef":"/author/636/chirag"},"field_first_name":"Chirag Mohanty Samal","authorpath":null,"userPicUrl":null},{"nid":"21133","title":"5 Yoga Asanas to Detox Your System And Build Immunity","field_dek":"Feeling bloated, unhappy and stressed? 12 Organic Pads to Have an Eco-Friendly Period

Whether for health or environmental reasons, women are increasingly turning to ‘greener’ menstrual products.

A regular non-organic pad takes about 500-800 years to break down, and as plastic makes up such a large amount of these products, they will never be truly biodegradable, says research.

The plastic present in non-organic pads can also cause irritation and allergic reactions. The consequences of using such products have led many socially conscious consumers to turn to eco-friendly alternatives.

If you have been contemplating to make the switch to organic pads, you, my friend, have come to the right place. We bring you 11 popular options of organic pads that are natural, renewable and reasonably-priced. P.S. on their Instagram handles you will find information that will help you breeze through your periods.
