3 Detox Drinks to Add in Your Diet to Boost Metabolism

The festive season is here and it means eating, drinking and being merry. So if you are worried about consuming extra calories and your fitness program going off-track, we have some good news fro you. We asked Dietitian Garima Goyal to share three detox drinks with us that will speed up your metabolism, which will help you burn more calories. “There are thousands of metabolic processes happening in the body and what you eat or drink affects your metabolism and overall body. The metabolic process helps you convert the food and drinks you consume into energy, so a good metabolism means more physical energy, weight loss, and better overall health,” says Garima.

She shares three detox drinks that will help boost your metabolism, your immunity and overall well being. What’s more, these drinks require minimal pre-preparation and can be prepared hassle-free at home.

1. Pomegranate and beetroot detox drink

Filled with essential Nutrients, Both Beetroot and Pomegranate are known for their beneficial effects on the body.

Several studies have found that this red superfood is not only capable of bringing down your cholesterol levels drastically (up to 40 per cent) but also helps in keeping your heart healthy.

Pomegranate is full of health-promoting antioxidants. The fruit is known to boost digestive health; thanks to the presence of B-complex vitamins. Pomegranate is also packed with fibre, which is essential for digestion. 

On the other hand, Beetroot is known for packing in quite a lot of fibre, which helps in keeping you full for a longer duration of time. When consumed together these two complement each other.

Ingredients:

2 cups diced beetroot

1 cup pomegranate seeds

3 tbsp. lime juice

black salt

Method:

In a blender, add beetroot and pomegranate seeds and give it a spin.

Now, add lime juice, and black salt.

Stir and pour!

2. Green Chlorophyl Booster 

A glass filled with goodness of fresh greens, ginger and microgreens, Whats not to like? Super good for your skin, your metabolism and energy levels, Have this smoothie at least twice in a week to get your metabolism going!

Ingredients

1 cup spinach

2 tbsp fresh mint leaves

1 cup microgreens of choice

Some fresh Ginger

1 cup pineapple chunks(Optional)

Pinch of cinnamon

Method:

Blend everything together in a blender, Add some ice or little water and Drink!

3. Mixed Herb Infused Detox Tea

It helps flush out the toxins and regulates metabolism.

Ingredients

1 tsp Cumin

1 tsp Fenugreek seeds

1 tsp Fennel seeds

1 inch Cinnamon stick

Some star anise(optional)

Method:

Boil everything together with sufficient water, and its ready!

Bottomline: “All these detox drinks are nutritious, healthy and have been proven to boost the body’s Metabolism. But, just having these drinks alone won’t help. For Better and quicker effects, you need to follow a well balanced die, do adequate exercise and get sufficient sleep,” says Garima.
