Bonjour, Rome! Everything we know about 'Emily In Paris' season 5

If you’ve ever watched Emily Cooper strut down the streets of Paris in a bright pink coat, phone in one hand and a croissant in the other, then you already know that her life is equal parts chaos and couture. But in the brand-new teaser for Emily in Paris Season 5, that picture-perfect Parisian fantasy suddenly comes with a Roman twist. Yes, our girl has officially gone international! The teaser, which dropped on Wednesday, shows Cooper swapping Parisian rooftops for ancient ruins and museums—and her familiar chaos for a whole new kind of drama. Between dreamy Italian landscapes, stolen glances, and what looks like a few professional disasters waiting to happen, Season 5 promises everything fans love: high-stakes romance, next-level fashion, and just enough awkwardness to keep it real.

Netflix has confirmed that the new season will premiere on December 18, 2025, and this time, it’s not just about Cooper figuring out life in Paris. She is levelling up—juggling two cities, a complicated love life, and a career that’s suddenly more demanding than ever. Let’s rewind a bit. Emily Cooper (played by Lily Collins) first arrived in Paris from Chicago, bringing her bold ideas, colourful wardrobe, and accidental chaos to the French marketing firm Savoir. She made friends, ruffled feathers, and somehow managed to balance her career, her influencer side-hustle, and her complicated love life.

By the time we reached Season 4, things got a little...extra. Cooper found herself torn between two men—Gabriel, her long-time crush, and Marcello, the charming Italian who swept her off her feet. Professionally, she was thriving, but her agency life took a turn when big opportunities came calling—including one that hinted at expanding to Rome.

Season 4 ended with Cooper being offered a new chapter—a role that would take her to Italy to lead a new office. But of course, nothing is ever that simple. There were friendship fallouts, romantic confusion, and hints that Emily might finally be forced to choose between her personal and professional happiness.

What to expect from Season 5

The biggest shift? We are swapping croissants for cannoli. Season 5 takes Cooper to Rome, where she will be spearheading her firm’s Italian expansion. The teaser shows her zooming through cobblestone streets, flirting with Marcello, and soaking in a new city that’s just as glamorous (and chaotic) as Paris. But don’t worry—Paris isn’t gone. Creator Darren Star has described it as “a tale of two cities,” so expect a split storyline between Rome and Cooper's old haunts.

Romance, as always, takes centre-stage. The teaser gives us plenty of chemistry between Cooper and Marcello—the dinners, the smiles, the inevitable “will they, won’t they?” moments. But Gabriel is still in the picture, which means the love triangle energy isn’t over yet. And since Camille isn’t returning this season, the dynamic between the characters is bound to shift in unexpected ways.

Beyond love, Season 5 also seems to give Cooper more agency at work. She is no longer the bright-eyed American just trying to fit in—she is a leader now. The teaser hints at her handling a campaign that goes wrong and sets off a chain of professional and personal chaos. Basically, the stakes are higher, and the consequences more real.

Of course, it wouldn’t be Emily in Paris without the fashion. Expect looks that merge Parisian polish with Italian glamour—flowy dresses, bold prints, and plenty of colour. Think Cooper walking through the Colosseum in Valentino while taking a selfie—it’s the vibe.

Why this season might actually be the best one yet

For all its glitz and drama, Emily in Paris has always been about self-discovery. Sure, the show gives us dreamy backdrops, unreal wardrobes, and moments that make us roll our eyes and grin at the same time. But at its core, it’s about a young woman figuring out who she is in a world that doesn’t always take her seriously.

Season 5 feels like a moment of Cooper's evolution. She is not just chasing romance or social media success—she is building something bigger. Moving to Rome symbolises growth, ambition, and the kind of independence that fans have been waiting to see from her.

Plus, there is something refreshing about shaking up the setting. After four seasons of Parisian streets and terrace brunches, a Roman reset might be exactly what the show needs to keep things fresh. And judging by the teaser, the mix of old flames, new adventures, and serious career challenges might finally give Cooper's story some real emotional depth—without losing that signature sparkle.

In short: Season 5 promises to be a new chapter full of love, fashion, chaos, and growth. Cooper's taking her empire international, and if there’s one thing we know about her, it’s that she will do it all with confidence, creativity, and a killer outfit, but with her fair share of goof-ups. From Parisian croissants to Italian gelato, this is Emily Cooper’s world, and we’re just living (and bingeing) in it!
