Dream job alert: This Indian startup is paying ₹1 Lakh to interns – for skincare

Imagine this: you wake up, cleanse, moisturise, apply sunscreen, maybe add in a serum if you please, and along with great skin, you’re also getting paid for your regular routine. No deadlines, no toxic colleagues, no “circle back” emails. Just you, your skincare schedule, and a stipend that would make your LinkedIn connections jealous.

Sounds fake? It’s not. An IIT-alumni–founded skincare brand called Deconstruct has officially brought back its viral Skincare Internship (Season 2), and yes, they’re once again paying interns ₹1 lakh to take care of their skin. If that doesn’t scream 2026 career goals, we don’t know what does. After the first edition took the internet by storm—cue memes, group chats, and “why didn’t I think of this?” reactions—the science-backed skincare brand is doubling down on its mission: to make skincare simple, accessible, and refreshingly drama-free. And they’re doing it by putting real people front and centre.

So… what is a skincare internship, really?

Let’s clear the air. This isn’t a gimmick, a prank, or one of those “win a lifetime supply” contests. Deconstruct’s Skincare Internship is exactly what it sounds like: a 30-day, remote programme where selected participants focus on building and maintaining a consistent, science-led skincare routine. No prior skincare knowledge or confused by ingredients that sound vaguely like a chemistry exam? Perfect. The internship is designed specifically for beginners and people who want to understand their skin without feeling overwhelmed. The goal is simple: to normalise skincare as an everyday habit, not a luxury.

Who can apply? (Spoiler: probably you and your bf)

One of the coolest things about this internship is its inclusivity. The eligibility criteria are refreshingly chill: be 18 or older, no skincare expertise required, open to all genders, and conducted entirely remotely. And in a move we love to see, 50 percent of the internship spots are reserved for male participants, directly challenging the idea that skincare is “just for women.” Because everyone should have an impactful skincare routine.

No CVs, just vibes

In a world where skincare is often overcomplicated, overpriced, and overloaded with unrealistic promises, Deconstruct has built its identity around being science-first and beginner-friendly. The internship is an extension of that philosophy, and here’s where it gets extra fun. While applications are accepted exclusively via Unstop, Deconstruct is also encouraging applicants to express interest on LinkedIn and Instagram by sharing their skincare routines, habits, journeys, and glow-up stories. The brand is actively moving away from traditional hiring formats and embracing authenticity over perfection. Honestly? We love a recruitment process that values honesty over a polished PDF.

This isn’t just about quick money, but an insight into how the lines between productivity and personal care are intersecting. Work, wellness, and self-care are being redefined for a new generation. It also sends a powerful message: taking care of yourself isn’t frivolous or lazy. It’s intentional, educational, and apparently, employable.
