Everything we loved from the 'Wednesday' season 2 teaser

'Wednesday' is back—and she’s bringing the whole haunted squad with her. After its record-breaking debut in 2022, Netflix’s Wednesday became an instant cult hit, thanks to its Gothic visuals, razor-sharp humour, and Jenna Ortega’s deadpan brilliance. In Season 1, we watched our favourite Addams navigate life at Nevermore Academy, crack open a supernatural murder mystery, dig up dark family secrets, and somehow end up in a love triangle she clearly didn’t sign up for. But if you thought a few murders, a psychic vision or two, and some undead drama could shake Wednesday Addams, think again.

Netflix just dropped the first official teaser for Season 2—and it’s safe to say we’re in for another wickedly good time.

The teaser is dark, moody, and packed with blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moments. From cursed family secrets to intriguing new characters, here’s everything we spotted—and loved—in this first look at Season 2.

Welcome, the Addams family!

We might have only gotten a handful of glimpses of the Addams Family in Season 1, but in Season 2, it's a full house. That's right, the Addams clan is enrolling at Nevermore Academy—and yes, they’re bringing their signature brand of chaos with them. Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones), Gomez (Luis Guzmán), and Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez) join Wednesday at Nevermore, and the audience gets a glimpse of Pugsley's powers as he takes down the Jericho sign. From Morticia’s cryptic warning to Wednesday’s own snarky comebacks, the teaser delivers on the Gothic drama we crave. And with the entire Addams family in tow, you can bet there'll be no shortage of secrets to uncover.

New mysterious characters plus grandmama

Principal Larissa Weems (Gwendoline Christie) met a heroic—and yes, heartbreakingly tragic—end in the Season 1 finale. And while we’ll miss her icy, mysterious presence, Nevermore won’t be headless for long. Enter Principal Barry Dort, played by the iconic Steve Buscemi. “Barry Dort is a bit of a mysterious figure. Something about him is not right, but he loves the school and he has real outcast pride,” Buscemi shared about his character. But he’s not the only fresh face shaking things up. We've got another alluring character, Grandmama Hester Frump, played by Joanna Lumley, Morticia’s complex mother and Wednesday’s closest ally, bringing a whole new level of spooky sophistication to the Addams family drama. Oh, and did we mention Lady Gaga will be making a surprise appearance? She’s been teased in an undisclosed role, and we’re already bracing for the chaos.

Old villains return—Hello, Tyler

Our favourite puppy-dog-eyed villain is back, we're talking about Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan)—and let’s just say, he’s not here for closure. Tyler started off in Season 1 as the charming barista with a soft spot for Wednesday—the two even shared a brief romance (and a kiss!) before everything unravelled in classic Addams fashion. As it turned out, he was the deadly Hyde terrorising Nevermore, manipulated by the vengeful Marilyn Thornhill, played by Christina Ricci (our OG Wednesday Addams). After he was exposed, Tyler was taken away in chains, bound for a psychiatric hospital, but as the teaser suggests, he’s far from gone. Is he out for revenge or redemption? We'll just have to wait to find out.

Old favourites, fresh chaos

What’s Wednesday without her trusty sidekick? Yep, Thing is back—and even though he doesn’t say a word, he’s got a whole lot going on. Jenna Ortega teased that he’s carrying some emotional baggage this season. Still creeping through corridors and saving the day with a flick of a finger, Thing is every bit as sassy and loyal as we remember. Our favourite Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen) will be returning as well, rubber ducks and all. And this time, he’s got a bigger role, which means more chaos, more laughs, and a little extra weirdness, just how we like it.

Murder, mayhem, and porcelain mysteries

From the looks of the teaser, the Gothic drama appears to be back in full force. There’s Morticia, looking worried and warning that “family secrets can have deadly consequences”. Meanwhile, Wednesday is casually revealing hidden weapons like she’s packing lunch. And then, there are the dolls *screech*. Porcelain, perfect, and positioned in eerie ritual-like displays, they hint at a new villain who clearly isn’t playing around. Between cryptic symbols, masked figures, and Wednesday saying she “knows where the bodies are buried,” we’re not sure what’s coming—but it’s going to be wicked.

Wednesday Season 2 will be released in two parts, with the first set of episodes dropping on August 6, and the rest following on September 3.
