And Just Like That—the Sex and the City sequel that’s had everyone talking (and meme-ing) since day one—is officially returning for a third season. Whether you loved it, hate-watched it, or binged it twice, there’s no denying the reboot has kept the glam alive and the group chats buzzing with conversations, debates, and an endless stream of memes—and it’s not slowing down anytime soon.
The new season, which releases this Thursday, May 29, 2025, on MAX, brings back the heartbreak, the high heels, and the signature drama we just can’t quit. The new season will feature 12 weekly episodes, with the finale set to air on August 14. HBO announced the renewal just ahead of season two’s finale, and with a fresh trailer and first-look images already out, the anticipation is very real.
“We are thrilled to spend more time in the Sex and the City universe telling new stories about the lives of these relatable and aspirational characters played by these amazing actors,” show creator Michael Patrick King said in a press release. “And Just Like That… Here comes season three.”
If you’re one of the many who are excited AF and can’t stop wondering what’s next for Carrie Bradshaw and her friends, here’s everything you need to know about And Just Like That season 3.
Who’s back on the show?
At the heart of the show are the iconic trio: Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon), and Charlotte York Goldenblatt (Kristin Davis)—each navigating their own messy, relatable, and aspirational lives in the ever-evolving world of love, friendship, and self-discovery.
The rest of the returning cast includes John Corbett as Aidan Shaw, Carrie’s rekindled love interest, Sarita Choudhury as the stylish and independent Seema Patel, Nicole Ari Parker as Charlotte’s chic friend Lisa Todd Wexley, Mario Cantone as Anthony Marentino, David Eigenberg as Steve Brady, and Evan Handler as Harry Goldenblatt. Supporting roles are filled by Cathy Ang, Alexa Swinton, Niall Cunningham, Christopher Jackson, Sebastiano Pigazzi, and Dolly Wells.
Broadway legend Patti LuPone is also joining the cast in a new, as-yet-undisclosed role, promising even more drama and dynamism this season.
What happened in Season 2?
Season two wrapped with major turning points for all the main characters. Carrie made the difficult decision to leave her beloved apartment to start a new chapter with Aidan, only to be left heartbroken once again. After his son’s accident, Aidan returns to his role as a full-time father and tells Carrie he can’t be with her until his children are grown, asking her to wait five years.
Miranda finally finds balance between her career and co-parenting, even finding peace with both her exes, Steve and Che. Charlotte dives back into the workforce, juggling her job with family responsibilities. Seema begins falling for a Marvel actor but refuses to put her life on hold for his career. Meanwhile, Nya steps into a new chapter post-divorce, with the promise of romance on the horizon.
Kim Cattrall’s Samantha Jones makes a one-scene cameo in the finale—a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment for longtime fans. Though beloved, her return appears to be a one-time event, tied to the show’s 25th anniversary. Che Diaz (played by Sara Ramirez), one of the most divisive characters introduced in season one, is not expected to return in season three.
What to expect in season 3?
The new season picks up with Carrie back in her Gramercy Park townhouse—now rat-infested, but still hers. She’s writing a fiction novel and continuing to navigate her complicated relationship with Aidan, though the question remains: will she really wait five years?
Meanwhile, expect further evolution in Miranda and Charlotte’s journeys, as well as deepening friendships with Lisa and Seema.
According to showrunner Michael Patrick King, And Just Like That is ready to explore “new stories about the lives of these relatable and aspirational characters.” With its signature blend of style, sentiment, and scandal, the third season promises to keep the conversation going, one cosmopolitan at a time.
