Here’s what your handwriting says about you

The way you write says more about you than you could ever imagine—from the way your handwriting slants in a certain direction to the pressure you use, all these tiny, seemingly inconsequential details can be collated to reveal many aspects of your personality. We’re not making this up—in fact, there is a whole science behind analysing handwriting for personality traits called graphology, and it has been around for a long time.

Wondering where this analysis would come in handy? Well, for a lot of things—think tracking down criminals, Sherlock style to even being used to screen employees for compatibility at job interviews!

Read on to discover what the way you write might be saying about you. And remember to take it with a pinch of salt—this is a basic overview and exceptions can always exist, so it might not apply to you in every situation.

If you use big letters

Those who have large handwriting that occupies more space on the page, tend to be more people-oriented and attention-seeking. So, if you use big letters, chances are, you are an extrovert and want to feel understood and noticed.

If you use small letters

The opposite is true for those that have a small handwriting. You are more introverted and like keeping to yourself, and you also possess high levels of focus and concentration.

If you space out your words

This one is a no-brainer. The more space between your words, the more freedom and independence you like to enjoy in your real life. And if you leave even spacing between your lines, you are aware of your boundaries.

If your words are close together

Is your handwriting all jammed together—almost like chicken scratch (we’re not judging)? You might like the company of others, and thrive in crowds.

If you write with a slight slant

We know what you’re thinking—even the direction my handwriting slants towards reflects my personality? Yes, it does! A right slant means you are a social butterfly who loves meeting new people, and friends and family mean everything to you. If your handwriting leans towards the left side, it could mean you are more about keeping to yourself and like to be introspective.

If your handwriting is not slanted

Your handwriting is ram-rod straight with no slant? Congratulations—you are quite pragmatic and not swayed by outside influence easily. You are also ruled more by logic and less by emotion.

If you use less pressure to write

Handwriting with soft pressure usually indicates you are a total nomad—you love moving from place to place, or travelling in general. You are also quite empathetic and sensitive in nature.

If you are heavy-handed and use a lot of pressure

Got a thick handwriting where you use a heavy pressure to write? It could mean a lot of things—you are sometimes quick to react, you go through intense emotions, and you might be quick to anger. You also commit to things seriously.
