Sima Taparia is Back! Indian Matchmaking to Return for Season 2

In 2020, when the whole world was in a whirlpool of chaos Indian Matchmaking provided us with the entertainment we were so starved for. It opened meme floodgates and sparked various debates but the cherry on top of this cringe-worthy cake came when we found out that none of the couples who were set up on the show ended up together. It seems like their stars just didn’t align. You can hate the show and criticize Sima Taparia for her methods (they are pretty archaic!) but when we tell you that Indian Matchmaking season 2 will drop on Netflix on 10th August, you know you’ll binge-watch it the first chance you get. That’s the beauty of cringe-worthy reality shows! 

In these new hour-long episodes, Sima Aunty will work her magic with new, and even some old, participants from around the world. We’re only hoping the participants this time are as amusing to watch as they were the first time around. Anyone remember Akshay’s mother?! Hopefully, season 2 will not make the same blunders season 1 made. The now-infamous matchmaker took to Instagram to announce the release of Indian Matchmaking season 2. Sharing a bunch of stills from the new season, Sima wrote, “Sima from Mumbai is back!! Indian Matchmaking S2 premieres on Wednesday, August 10 PST on @Netflix!.” 

Talking about the upcoming season, Sima told Variety, “The love I’ve gotten from the fans of the show has been wonderful. Matchmaking is my passion, and it’s a joy to share my work with audiences around the world. Sima from Mumbai is back!” 

Not that you’ll need any extra motivation to stream this show (because who doesn’t love a weekend of hate-watching?) but from the still that Netflix India and Sima Taparia have shared, this season looks slightly more promising for the couples than the last one did. We see a proposal, Aparna (if you don’t know her, we suggest watching season 1 before starting season 2) on a date and even a newly married couple holding hands. We’re sitting at the edge of our seats to know who these new participants are. August 10th can’t come any faster!
