If you're looking for a cozy, romantic dinner-for-two kind of place, you don't need to look any further than Mei Kun. A deliciously lovely place nestled in the plaza at the The Leela Ambience Convention Hotel, the place will serve you well if it's done-to-perfection Oriental food you're after.
A great way to start your meal is with a bowl of steaming Laksa. The Curry Laksa, a popular Singaporean dish, has a coconut milk base, and undertones of turmeric, shrimp paste and Vietnamese coriander that'll hit all your tastebuds in tandem, and the Mee Goreng salad goes deliciously as a counter to it.
We, in particular, took to the Curried Prawns, a delectable Thai creation, rife with lemongrass, galangal and red chillies (best enjoyed with a bowl of fragrant Jasmine Rice), as well as to the painstakingly-prepared Peking Duck, a dry duck delicacy from China, bursting with the flavours of ginger, spring onion, five-spice and China.
The bottomline? The place doesn't disappoint—whether it's with regard to the cautious and gracious staff who host you well (without hovering over you through the duration of your meal), or the quiet and well-set ambience that overlooks the city lights. Overall, a quality dining experience, definitely worth travelling the distance.
