5 Minutes With Jordan Dunn

Cosmo: What’s your morning beauty regime like?
Jourdan Dunn:
“I love a good cleanser. Sometimes I use the Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm, which is really nice—most women are scared of using any oils or balms because they think they’re greasy, but they’re actually good for your skin because they match our natural oils. I also like to use two kinds of toners—–I love the Pixi Glow Tonic and also SKII. During harsh weather, it’s all about doubling-up on serums with Vitamin C boosters, and then using a hydrating one followed by a moisturiser.”

C: What’s the best beauty advice ever?

JD: “Remove your make-up before going to bed! It’s so important, because with all the pollution, bacteria, and make-up, sleeping with it all on your face is a big no-no!”

C: Any make-up faux pas?

JD: “When I was younger, I remember using a blue, powdery eye-shadow and going crazy all the way up to my brows. Big fail.”

C: What’s inside your make-up bag? JD: “I love Maybelline’s mascaras—the Lash Sensational and the Colossal Spider Effect mascara. Also, Brow Drama—it’s really good for filling in. If your brows are on-point, everything else will flow. And I always keep a dark lippie in my bag; it brings the whole look together.”

C: Your daily make-up routine?
JD:
“Since my job involves putting on a lot of make-up, when I’m not working or travelling, I keep it very simple. Just a bit of concealer, and eyebrows that are on-point.”

C: And your hair?

JD: “My hair regime is actually quite fun and easy because I wear wigs, so Iget to pick my look. I can go from long to short, and change my style while protecting my own hair, which is amazing. But I like to treat my mane to a deep conditioner once a month.”

C: The one ‘girl code’ you’d never break?
JD:
“The one girl code you should never break, but I think a lot of girls do, is to share boyfriends. Like, let’s not have your friends’ sloppy seconds.”

C: Your thoughts on body confidence?

JD: “Speaking from experience (and I’ve had issues with how I looked) is that we just have to stop comparing ourselves to people on Instagram or in magazines. You cannot say ‘Oh my God, I don’t look like that’, because in reality, even they don’t look like that. You can’t chase perfection because it doesn’t exist. Focus on being the best you that you can be.”

C: Tell us about Lil’ LonDunn, your new childrenswear capsule collection...

JD: “I’m so excited; I’ve been working on this for two years! I felt there was something missing when I went shopping for my six-year-old son, Riley. I decided I wanted to create something that was great quality, but also cool with a ‘street’ vibe. We shot the campaign with my son, which was so much fun!”

C: And tell us about your charity, Cells For Gratitude...
JD:
“I set this up as my son has sickle cell. A lot of people don’t know about the condition, and that it affects many people. I guess it’s like a hidden blessing because I have a great platform to spread awareness through something close to my heart. Cells For Gratitude is about educating others about it, trying to find a cure, and ways for it be more manageable.”
