India just had a hair moment so big, it made history. On September 17, 2025, L’Oréal Professionnel transformed Mumbai’s NESCO into one of the nation’s largest salon for a day, bringing together 422 hairstylists and 422 models in one spectacular showcase. The result? A World Record title for “Most people colouring hair” and a dazzling reminder that hair colour fashion in India is bold, collaborative, and ready for the global stage.
The day Mumbai made hair history

The event—fittingly named L’Oréal Professionnel Hair Color Coders 2025—wasn’t just about the record, it was about hair colour artistry on an unprecedented scale. With more than 5,000 tubes of professional colour and styling products at their disposal and access to over 60 backwashes, hairstylists created stunning hair colour transformations in a sprawling space of 1 Lakh sq ft at NESCO, Mumbai. These hair colour transformations celebrated Iconic Browns, L’Oréal Professionnel’s hair colour trend of the year.
From glossy espresso tones to warm caramel balayage, the palette proved that brown isn’t basic—it’s chic, versatile, and powerful. As stylists worked in perfect rhythm, the atmosphere brimmed with energy, pride, and creativity. “What L’Oréal Professionnel India achieved today showcases our capability to set global benchmarks and lead on the world stage,” said Zeenia Bastani, director, Professional Products Division, L’Oréal India.
Global inspiration meeting Indian brilliance

Adding star power to the event was Min Kim, global color ambassador for L’Oréal Professionnel. She led an exclusive masterclass, sharing advanced techniques in tonal layering and face-framing colour with attending hairdressers. And in one of the day’s show-stopping highlights, Min gave actress Kritika Kamra a live makeover, unveiling a glossy, multidimensional brunette look that lit up the stage.
“Browns are being redefined globally through techniques like glossing and balayage,” said Min Kim. “It was inspiring to see Indian hairstylists embrace this at such scale. This moment reflects the power of sharing knowledge and elevating hair artistry internationally.” Kritika’s transformation instantly became the ultimate showcase of the trend, establishing just how impactful Iconic Browns can be.
Elevating skill and building community

This wasn’t a one-off show. Months of preparation went into making the event possible, with hairstylists participating in four intensive masterclasses ahead of the big day. These sessions refined not only their technical skills on haircut, colour & styling, but also their ability to thrive as digital creators in a social-first world.
“Hair Color Coders was about more than setting a record; it was about elevating skill,” said Priya Kasthuri Rangan, head of education, L’Oréal Professionnel India. “We are proud to have created an elite community of hairdressers who have shown passion, diligence, and unwavering commitment.”
That commitment translated online, too. In just one day, the event generated over 1,000 social media mentions, with hairstylists sharing transformation reels, backstage moments, and creative techniques that inspired both peers and clients across the country.
More than a record, towards the future

For L’Oréal Professionnel, Hair Color Coders 2025 was more than a record-setting spectacle—it was a statement of intent. It spotlighted hairstylists as innovators, entrepreneurs, and creators driving the future of beauty and hair in India. It also cemented hair colour as the beating heart of salon growth, fueling creativity, self-expression, and community.
By the end of the day, one thing was clear: brown hair colour has never looked so bold. With Iconic Browns leading the charge, L’Oréal Professionnel proved that India’s hairstylists are not only shaping trends at home but also influencing conversations on the global stage.
Because if 422 stylists can unite to make history in a single afternoon, imagine what comes next.
