This Unexpected Trend Will Give You Baby-Soft Skin Forever

If you want hairless, baby-soft skin but don't have a million bucks to spend on laser hair removal, beauty phenom Huda Kattan has an answer for you: Shave your face. Sure, it might sound a little weird if you've never done it before, but she started shaving her face a year ago and "swears" by it now. She shared her secret in a recent YouTube video.

Her method helps create the perfect base for a flawless makeup application, which she teased in her Instagram video below. No wonder why her makeup is always perfection! You're about to be intrigued:

Many of Huda's 12.8 million followers feel super-empowered by the video but others are more skeptical about her method. To each her own.

Huda actually starts out by explaining that this practice is actually not as taboo as people think. She read years ago that her beauty icons like Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor shaved their faces and it's been practiced in Asia for decades.

"I have lasered areas that have slightly thicker hair, and def recommend that for areas around the mouth and chin, and side burns, but if you have areas where the hair is super thin and more like peach fuzz, you may find this is your best bet," she said. She also says that shaving is great for skin exfoliation, scarring, and even anti-aging. Who knew?

She explains the full process in her YouTube video below:

All Huda says you'll need is a straight blade razor.

First, she says to start with your face completely dry and makeup-free if you're shaving areas where the hair is thicker. Side note: Huda has makeup on in this video because she's only demo-ing how she shaves off her baby hairs. According to Huda, if you shave with your face wet, your hairs will grow in much thicker, and that's a no-no.

Next, she says to use gentle strokes, lightly applying pressure with your razor to your skin to remove all hairs.

She also points out that if you're shaving an area of your face for the first time, use your finger to hold your skin back on the area so you don't go beyond that point like so:

"Shaving your face is actually really easy," she said. "It's so essential. I actually carry a razor in my makeup kit, because you just never know when you might need a little shaving."
