"If I Had Hit Her, She Wouldn't Have Survived It": Salman Khan

You cannot talk about physical and mental abuse in Bollywood without talking about the major controversy that involved allegations on Salman Khan physically assaulting his then girlfriend, Aishwarya Rai.

Before Aishwarya dated Vivek Oberoi, and later married Abhishek Bachchan, the megastar was allegedly in an abusive relationship with Salman Khan. And till now, fans are trying to investigate the depth of it.

Aishwarya once admitted that Salman's abusive nature and violent activities, such as creating disruptive scenes at her workplace or outside her apartment, forced her to walk away for good.

It was sad enough that she was in a relationship with him in spite of her father's wishes, who highly disapproved of Salman and their growing intimacy, back then.

Salman also admitted, "Aishwarya did not like my behaviour towards them just as I would not appreciate anybody misbehaving with my father. Aishwarya's father is completely justified in complaining against me. I have nothing against him."

In an old interview the actress shared, "I stood by him enduring his alcoholic misbehavior in its worst phases and in turn, I was at the receiving end of his abuse (verbal, physical, and emotional), infidelity and indignity. That is why like any other self-respecting woman I ended my relationship with him."

But, in the middle of the new #MeToo stories that have come up in the recent past, here's an old interview of Salman Khan that  has gone viral:

In this video, Salman says if he hit her, she wouldn't have survived it, because he broke a table and startled a journalist, who asked her this very same question before.

His answer may not be the admission people were looking for, but it says a lot. What do you think?
