#CosmoExclusive: 5 Minutes With Bollywood's Fave Pilates Girl, Namrata Purohit

You may have seen Namrata Purohit training with the fittest Bollywood beauties - Kareena Kapoor Khan and Malaika Arora or got your hands on her The Lazy Girl’s Guide to Being Fit book.

For a person, who eats, sleeps and breathes pilates, Namrata's personal health regime is surprisingly simple. She says, "I feel people are getting extremely conscious of their health, their fitness regime and diet. Everyone is not only trying to look good but also feel good and healthy. As the awareness of healthy living has increased, I find that more people are focusing on themselves, regardless of how busy their schedule is. Most people are trying to find that little time in the day to squeeze in a workout, and eating healthy meals."

So, here's what her own fitness regime entails:

Cosmo: With your hectic travel schedule, how do you maintain a fitness regime?

Namrata Purohit: Regardless of wherever I am, for me, work out is a must. If I am visiting a city I usually book multiple fitness classes. If I am in a remote location, I do opt for more outdoor activities as well as some bodyweight exercises. Waking up early is the key to fit all my activities in.

Cosmo: Please share a few exercises that those with busy travel schedules can include in their workout.

NP: No matter where you are it is always easy to squeeze in a walk or a jog if nothing else. There are also multiple bodyweight exercises and even cardiovascular based exercises that one can do in their room. Jumping jacks, high knees, skipping are some cardiovascular exercises, push-ups, ab preps, obliques, planks, squats, lunges, hip lifts, side-lying leg raises are some examples of bodyweight exercises.

Cosmo: Do you think there are some beauty benefits to working out?

NP: Working out improves blood circulation which improves the health of the skin. Regular exercise improves the circulatory and respiratory system, improving oxygenation and overall health of the body. Working out also helps reduce stress, which in return helps improve the health of your body, skin, and hair.

Cosmo: It is said that 70 per cent, diet 30 per cent exercise. Do you agree?

NP: Diet and exercise are both extremely important and go hand in hand if you want to be fit and healthy. Just by following a nutritious plan you can not only look healthy but feel clean too but exercising is important if you want to be fit, which includes being strong, flexible, having good endurance, balance etc.

Cosmo: Do tell us about your diet- are there any do's and don'ts that you follow.

NP: I eat 3 main meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner and 2 small meals in between. I start with a hearty breakfast and end with a light dinner. I usually try to complete my dinner before 7-7:30 pm.

Cosmo: Can you tell us 5 important tweaks that can be made to our diet to make sure that our workout gains show up?

NP: - Eat enough not less

- Drink enough water

- Don't skip meals

- Eat at the right time

- Make sure you are getting all the required nutrients
