When it comes to quotable movie moments, there's just nothing like the classic chick flicks of the '90s and '00s. Whether your go-to quip is "what, like it's hard?" in your best Elle Woods impression, wishing your friend a happy 30th birthday is immediately followed up with "thirty, flirty, and thriving", or you occasionally bust out a Bring It On cheer for fun (just us?), we never tire of watching— or quoting— them.

But when it comes to our ultimate fave films, Mean Girls and Clueless easily take the top spots. Full of niche reference points, standout fashion moments, and hilarious scenes that remain just as relevant and relatable today.

So can you blame us for getting more than a little excited when we spotted Amanda Seyfried (AKA Karen Smith, member of the Plastics) wearing a 'fit that looked like it was straight out of Cher Horowitz's wardrobe?

In a coordinating shorts suit from Canadian brand Smythe, it turns out the lime plaid single-button tailored blazer with puff shoulders and matching A-line pleated shorts are actually inspired by the founders' favourite '90s flick, with the product description making a subtle reference to the iconic Clueless outfit that only true fans would get. As if!

Amanda, who was in New York City for a day of press appointments to promote her new series The Crowded Room, layered a black vest top underneath and finished the look with a pair of black towering court shoes and timeless rectangular sunglasses.

While Cher opted for a yellow plaid mini, rather than shorts, and paired her co-ord with knee-high white socks and patent Mary Janes, Seyfried's styling (courtesy of Elizabeth Stweart who also shared a pic on her Instagram) is a modern take on a classic lewk. We think Cher, and her digital wardrobe, would approve.
