Will the 'Kardashian Curse' affect Lewis Hamilton?

Rumours of Lewis Hamilton and Kim Kardashian have been swirling around, suggesting that the pair might be more than just glamorous friends. Recently, the paparazzi captured the pair arriving in Paris together after what sources have described as a low-key romantic weekend in the English countryside. Now neither of them has officially confirmed anything, but reports claim that the meetup was “romantic,” and this isn’t just a random plane coincidence; they reportedly flew together from the UK on Kardashian's private jet.

Buzz like this cannot just quietly simmer, and it has now exploded into the dreaded “Kardashian Curse” chatter. The Kardashian Curse is a cheeky term suggesting anyone who dates into the Kardashian-Jenner orbit somehow ends up with their career or life derailed afterwards. It’s a totally unscientific media trope, but one that’s persisted in tabloids for years.

 

In fact, recently, in classic self-aware Kardashian style, Kendall Jenner leaned into the Kardashian Curse buzz head-on in her 2026 Super Bowl ad, and quipped, “Haven’t you heard? The internet says I am cursed. Any basketball player who dates me kind of hits a rough patch.”

Old friends turned rumoured lovers

Hamilton and Kardashian go way back. They first crossed paths over a decade ago, long before this latest dating buzz, and have bumped into each other at multiple elite events over the years. Their relationship was friendly, public, and very not scandalous until now.

On the track, Hamilton’s legacy speaks for itself: seven world championships and an undeniably elite career in Formula One. But, he is also one of the victims of the infamous 'Ferrari Curse' in the F1 world. "The Ferrari curse meeting the Kardashian Curse? It has never been more over (sic)," a netizen wrote on X, while a fan replied, "Hopefully, it cancels each other out (sic)."

For anyone still confused, here’s the real tea on how the Kardashian Curse became this infamous pop-culture narrative. Khloé Kardashian’s rollercoaster marriage to Lamar Odom came early in the curse mythology. The NBA star was at the peak of his career when they tied the knot, but the years that followed were marked by injuries, personal struggles, and a near-fatal overdose that all played out in the tabloids, making his decline feel dramatic and uncomfortably public. Add to that former NBA player Rashad McCants, who had claimed that dating Khloé affected how seriously teams and fans took him, and it took a toll on his career.

Kim Kardashian’s short-lived 72-day marriage to Kris Humphries ended in an explosive divorce that many fans blamed on the pressure of reality TV life and intense media scrutiny, and her later marriage to Kanye West saw his once-unstoppable hip-hop career and reputation tread into some of the ugliest public controversies after their split. 

Kourtney Kardashian’s long-term partner Scott Disick battled alcoholism and erratic behaviour throughout and after their relationship, becoming gossip fodder for years. 

Meanwhile, Kendall Jenner’s dating history has often been dragged into the conversation, too. The on-court performances and thriving careers of NBA stars like Ben Simmons and Blake Griffin seemingly dipped when they dated the Jenner sister.
