Wondering when your career will take off? Shah Rukh Khan teaches you how to be resilient

Shah Rukh Khan, the King of Bollywood, has been inspiring millions of us for decades. But what happens when the King himself faces setbacks? In a recent interview, SRK opened up about his five-year hiatus after the film Zero flopped, which inspires us never to give up.

Here’s how SRK motivates himself and all of us to always stay resilient!

Never stop learning

SRK admitted to feeling the sting of failure after Zero. "I was licking my wounds. But you know what I did? I learnt to make the best pizza in the world. I stopped listening to stories, I stopped wanting to tell stories" But he did something surprising instead of wallowing—he learned to make pizza! This wasn't just about escaping reality; it was about learning perseverance. As he says, "to make the perfect round pizza, you have to first make a million square ones." If SRK still has something to learn, who are we stop in our journeys?

Even SRK's family and team played a crucial role in his comeback. They encouraged him to return to his passion—filmmaking. SRK revealed that he "was glad that my family didn’t tell me, ‘Listen, your pizzas are better than your films, stop making films.’ I’m glad that they turned around and said, ‘As good as your pizzas are, your films are better’."

Learn from your mistakes

SRK admits to acknowledging his mistakes. He admits to becoming "too innovative" and looking for perfection, leading to failures. In the process, he learned a valuable lesson: Sometimes, excellence isn't enough; you need to understand what the audience wants. This self-awareness and willingness to adapt are what we should all learn from him!

Don't be disheartened if something you tried didn't work out

SRK realised that his fans craved the hope, happiness, and love that he embodied on screen. He understood that sometimes, the simplest stories connect with the audience the most. This newfound clarity contributed to his comeback with his recent films like Pathaan and Jawan. "I went and did a film about a vertically challenged guy, I did a film about a manic, psychopathic fan, but no, people just like to see me giving hope and happiness and love, so let’s get back to that," Khan explained.

Never lose sight of your passion and purpose

Khan reminds us to hold onto our dreams, just like he did! He teaches us that failure is as much a part of success, and despite what happens, one should never lose passion for the things they love.
