Michelle Obama Has Some Words of Wisdom to Share with Meghan Markle

Yes, Meghan Markle has a pretty cool mom who probably gives her amazing advice, but if there's anyone else in the world Ms. Markle should consult for wisdom, it's Michelle Obama. Aside from the simple reason that the former FLOTUS is an all-around amazing woman, Michelle knows all too well what it's like to be in the public eye.

While promoting her Becoming memoir in an interview with Good Housekeeping, Michelle shared a few wise words for the Duchess. Obama said she can relate to the craziness that surrounds Meghan right now, and recommended that Meghan take some time to relax before diving into anything new.

"Like me, Meghan probably never dreamt that she'd have a life like this, and the pressure you feel—from yourself and from others—can sometimes feel like a lot," Michelle explained. I certainly don't know what it's like to be the First Lady or a duchess, so let's just take Michelle's word for it.

She added, "So my biggest piece of advice would be to take some time and don't be in a hurry to do anything. I spent the first few months in the White House mainly worrying about my daughters, making sure they were off to a good start at school and making new friends before I launched into any more ambitious work. I think it's okay—it's good, even—to do that."

Um, so IDK if Michelle knows this already, but Meghan has been B-U-S-Y since joining the royal family. Ever since she married Prince Harry, she's been going on royal tours across the world, writing cookbooks, giving speeches, and she just announced two months ago that she's pregnant.

So from the outside, it certainly doesn't seem like Meghan has taken it easy in her first few months as royalty. Maybe Meghan will take the former First Lady's advice and slow down a tad as she prepares to welcome her first baby. Sure, royal protocol is a ~thing,~ but Meghan still has ownership over her own life and career.

Michelle also added that Meghan's platform is huge and she can have such a great influence on those who follow her. "I think Meghan can maximize her impact for others, as well her own happiness, if she's doing something that resonates with her personally." Truer words have never been spoken, people. Go forth and do you, Meg, but also listen to Michelle! Oh, and please have a cookbook collab with a bunch of tasty and healthy recipes. K, thanks!
