Alok Nath To Play a Judge in a Film on Sexual Harassment

A few months ago, the #MeToo movement finally arrived in India, a full year after the US. But we're glad it finally did as the toxic curtain hiding predators was finally lifted. One such predator, who was outed, was actor Alok Nath. His old colleague, and writer, Vinta Nanda revealed the horrifying story of her sexual assault in his hands. She even filed a complaint against him, and while he was released on bail, he did receive major backlash (as is expected).

But now, things seem to be getting worse than better. A recent Mumbai Mirror report states that Nath will be playing a judge in an upcoming film based on sexual harassment and #MeToo. The film, titled #MainBhi (#MeToo), recently finished shooting and features Nath as a judge who is a staunch feminist, and someone who stands for the movement.

The horror and the irony, of course, wasn't lost anyone. But even before the outrage, Nath apparently responded to the reporter's question with: "I'm not doing any films at the moment. This was something I shot for a while ago. Is there a problem? You sound sad that I'm doing a film."

It's so disappointing to see us take one step forward and then two steps back.
