Sonam Kapoor in Millennial Pink? Designer Abhinav Mishra Tells Us How THAT Happened

Designer Abhinav Mishra’s recent winter-festive collection showcase for exceptionally beautiful for many reasons.

For his runway debut, Abhinav’s creations were presented in the backdrop of Awadh inspired décor, complete with the scent of Jasmine flowers lingering in the air, and a soulful performance by Nizami brothers and folk dancers.

Aaand, the show was closed by his (and ours too!) ‘forever muse’, Sonam Kapoor. The actor has often turned showstopper for many but her recent runway reveal was exceptional. Why? Well, the secret lies in the beautiful pink lehenga that was specially designed for her.

 

“Sonam is India’s most iconic fashionista and she doesn’t wear a lot of pinks, so I was so delighted that she agreed to wear the outfit. For her, I always wanted to stick to our brand’s signature colour and making this outfit especially for her was a labour of love. I’m still in awe of how beautiful she looked on the runway at our first ever show and she pulls it off like nobody else! She looked like a true queen,” says Abhinav.

He also took us through the making of the gorgeous ensemble. “We worked with traditional gota and mirror work. The handwork is very intricate and each mirror is finely woven in, giving the outfit a very retro royalty feel that Sonam effortlessly exudes with sheer elan,” he says.

Featuring lehengas, anarkalis and shararas in bold colours such as mustard yellow, rani pink, powder blue, ivory as well deep tones of maroon, red, emerald green, sapphire blue and pink, of course, the collection also marks the launch of his new store at Dhanmill Compound, Chattarpur.
