Master the Art of Peek-a-Boo Fashion

Switch your heavy and heft sartorial choices with lighter, sheer ones this season to stay fashionably on point.

If Spring/Summer 2022 runway trends are anything to go by, it’s time to celebrate the skin you are in and let it see (and shine) through translucent silhouettes. From Rejina Pyo’s minty fresh, sheer tops and skirts to Supriya Lele fishnet iterations and use of delicate, sheer fabric in a range of hues, and David Koma’s lingerie-esque resort wear for 2022, there seems to be a concerted effort to harness the power of diaphanous forms. So, here’s a look at how some of our fave celebs are interpreting this trend in their own way and inspiring us to do the same.

Nora Fatehi is looks ready to dazzle on the red carpet in this ebony, off-shoulder Marchesa creation. Extra points for the mini, ruffled train and keeping the accessories minimal by the way of only earrings and a ring to not take away from the sensual, sheer vibe.

Ladies, if there’s one aspect of your wardrobe that is an absolute no-brainer for you to introduce sheers in, it is your resort- and swimwear. Whether you want to use a translucent overlay like Sonakshi Sinha, who looks luminescent in this iridescent one by eco-conscious swimwear brand Flirtatious or wrap around a sheer sarong around your waist for some pop of colour or break the monotony of your monotonal swimwear, nothing compares to lightness of a translucent fabric.

Ideal for a fancy soirée is this French lace and silk chiffon gown worn by Kiara from the luxury label Aadnevik. The leather belt cinching in the waist perfectly makes for a detail with contrasting texture, along with the high-slit feature makes this sheer gown stand out. Plus, we absolutely love how the gold tone heels and minimalistic choker wrap up the look together.

Yet another see-through Aadnevik iteration, this time donned by Ananya Panday with flair. This black beaded, French lace gown strikes the right balance between modern and feminine aesthetics with its geometric pattern and sheer bodice and skirt. Pro tip: A smokey eye as seen here on Ananya is a sure shot way to amp up the glam quotient and avoid looking over the top by keeping the accessories minimum.

Fjolla Nila has combined the elements of sheerness and movement (through the means of ruffles) in this ivory gown seen here on Kangana Ranaut. Matching heels and diamond studs were all that was needed to complete this look without distracting from this sheer creation. Kangana seems to channelling her inner diva as usual and exuding tonnes of confidence with the high ponytail.
