Here’s How to Survive the Holidays, Based on Your Sign

Hint: Bookmark this page before you go off to meet bae's parents.

Sure, the holidays have some good things (food, presents, food, time off, food, seeing your family), but they can also bring a new set of seasonal problems and situations that cause maaajor stress for everyone (cooking, finding presents for everyone else, working overtime, seeing your family).

Thankfully, your sign can help you figure out how to handle the dramz and get back control of your life during all the back-to-back holidays. Here’s your celestial guide to survive all of winter’s jubilees:

Aries

If you’re meeting or spending more time than usual with a partner’s family (or even just their buds over Friendsgiving), you might be feeling, well, pretty effing nervous. You have a bold personality that you’re sometimes worried comes on too strong, but try to realize that people might be just as worried about impressing you. Take a deep breath, forgive yourself for being anxious (it just means you care about your boo), and, when in doubt about WTF to talk about, just ask lots of questions!

Taurus

Whether it’s an office party or a holiday bash at your place, you’re finding yourself taking charge of organizing way more of it. And honestly, it’s for the best! You have the best taste and can turn an awk Secret Santa hang into an event people are legitimately proud to ’gram. Just make sure to keep your trademark stubbornness in check and not insult anyone else’s ideas while you’re at it (aka, let them put Mariah Carey on repeat for a while if it makes people happy.) If you can do that, everyone will have a blast!

Gemini

Feeling wanderlust, Gemini? It’s time you head out of town. If visiting your nearby relatives just ain’t cutting it, book a ski trip with everyone instead. Or, if you really don’t want to spend those few remaining vacay days on the same Thanksgiving you have every year, plan a last-minute trip with your bestie and make the most of it! Maybe you just need to switch it up this year—listen to the part of you that wants to!

Cancer

Setting boundaries with family is always a challenge—especially when you don’t want to offend them or step on their toes. Before you become one huge ball of stress dealing with everyone, try to find a middle ground. Communicate and share your schedule with them, but also tell them you would like some alone time, too. You have to pick your battles wisely, and some solo time to regroup can help you from getting snippy.

Leo

You’re swamped with work until the holidays commence, causing you to miss out on some parties you really wanted to go to. Before you scoff at the never-ending workload on your desk, just know a surprise is coming your way. Maybe it’s a spontaneous night out with friends or a romantic trip orchestrated by bae. But someone in your life is noticing your burnout, and they’re here to help! All you have to do is put aside your job (read: your phone with all your work emails) when you do actually relax.

Virgo

Dealing with a big family gathering or friends all meeting each other at a party can cause major anxiety for you. You want everyone to be friends and (let’s face it) that isn’t always so easy at first. It takes time. Don’t put pressure on yourself and everyone else to be BFFs at first sight, or get tense the moment you hear the crackling of a political argument. Relationships unfold naturally, and the ones that don’t aren’t your fault or problem.

Libra

It’s time to let your hair down. Being a sign obsessed with balance, you may have spent a good chunk of this year worrying about your spending habits and being more frugal than usual. But it’s the holidays now, and if you have cash left over, treat yourself! Get those boots you’ve been eyeing, buy $15 champagne instead of $5, hell, splurge on those Lizzo tix. You can go back to super-save mode once 2020 starts.

Scorpio

If you’re sooooo exhausted from this year and the idea of doing big holiday-themed activities with your fam already makes you want to take a nap, plan out some chiller stuff you’d rather do instead. Binge-watch some holiday movies, do more low-key dinners in town over cooking a big meal, carve out time to just chill in your hometown like you used to as a kid. After all, this is supposed to be a vacation.

Sagittarius

Pick up the phone, Sag! Reach out to old friends and reconnect before the year ends. Put petty squabbles behind you and try to make amends with anyone you’ve ghosted but secretly still wish would text you. You want to kick off 2020 right, and that involves letting go of the past, gaining clarity on some conflicts, and starting fresh. ’Tis the season for that, after all!

Capricorn

Welp, you might be having a mini financial crisis. If your expected yearly Christmas bonus ain’t happening and you forgot to budget out gifts, suggest a a low-key Secret Santa exchange with a price cap. Then, everyone will spend the same amount and you won’t feel like Scrooge by comparison. If you’re getting gifts for the fam, opt to make something from scratch over buying it—TBH, it’ll probs mean so much more to the person anyway!

Aquarius

On the party front, November might be on the quiet side for you, but come December, you’re raging nonstop. You’re a pro at getting your crew together to go out, but just slow down if you’re feeling so booked up with plans that you forget to have fun at each one. 2020 will have plenty more things to go to!

Pisces

Party season is in full gear, but if you’re seeing someone, you might be in the mood to only spend your time macking on them. Be forewarned: Your friends and colleagues will try to unlock your lips from your boo—both because they miss you and because it’s a little annoying! You can spare a few hours with your crew—and sure, invite your bb, so long as you can hold off on the PDA until you get home.
