5 Ways to Celebrate Mother’s Day in the Lockdown

It’s Mother’s Day on 10th May, the second Sunday of May. And, we bet the lockdown has ruined your plans for the celebrations. But fret not, there’s still a lot you can do to make the day special for her. If she’s staying with you, it’s a lot easier but if you aren't together, don’t let social distancing come in the way of those special dinners and movie times…just make them virtual. Here’s how

Breakfast in bed

If she’s with you, cook up breakfast and serve it hot in bed. Snuggle in with her and listen to how surprised and pleased she is in between bites. She is in another city? Then order her favourite food and get it delivered at her door step. Check the food joints in her city that will deliver fast.

Plan a movie marathon

How about cozying up on the couch with your favourite lady. Make a list of movies, you know she would like to watch and get started with a bowl of popcorn. If the two of you aren't together, then fix up a time and watch the same movie together. This gives a strong feeling of connection, even when you are miles apart.

Surprise her with a montage

x

Remember the times when you made cute DIY cards for her birthday in school? They got her immensely pleased. Well, this time why not make a video for her. Put together your some family photographs, choose her favourite music and make a video using one of those many video editing apps on your phone. Send it to her or if she’s with you play it on the computer or TV screen to watch her melt.

Throw a virtual party

x

Irrespective of whether you are together or not, you can still get some of her friends and family to raise a toast or share a meal online on zoom or house party app. To ring in that festive cheer, do up the house with fun balloons, colourful paper festoon and flowers.

Tick off her favourite destinations

Yeah, we know you can’t get on to a plane and go off to an exotic land, but both of you can still enjoy virtual tours of museums, national parks and historic mansions. Do some research and pick up the links to these virtual tours that you can embark on from the comfort of your couch.
