6 Surprising Reasons Why Celebrities Use Apple Cider Vinegar

In a recent interview with Cosmo India, actor Jacqueline Fernandez revealed that she starts her day with a spoonful of apple cider vinegar mixed with lukewarm water. She isn’t the only one, Malaika Arora has also made ACV a part of her daily routine. ACV not only has amazing skin and hair benefits but it also revs up the metabolism and boosts immunity. Katy Perry, Kim Kardashian, Scarlett Johansson and Victoria Beckham are fans of the wellness staple too. Blossom Kochhar, veteran beauty expert and founder of Blossom Kochhar Aroma Magic, explains the fascination, “apple cider vinegar works as an overall natural remedy with multiple benefits. It contains a handful of fruit acids, including malic acid which helps to remove old, dead skin cells. With age, skin naturally loses its elasticity and wrinkles begin to form, regular use of ACV helps tighten the skin and protects it from harmful environmental elements. Since it also has astringent properties, it relaxes and cleanses the skin.

Here are a few surprising benefits and ways in which you can add it to your daily routine.

1. Shrinks pores

ACV works wonderfully when it comes to minimising those skin pores. “By using few drops of essential oils mixed with water and ACV on your face daily,  you can improve your skin texture and get rid of impurities and oily skin,” says Blossom. ACV toner will also help maintain the right pH balance of your skin.

2. Banishes acne

ACV is effective against acne. “It has antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal, properties that guard your skin against any impurities and bacteria,” says Blossom.

3. Keeps skin squeaky clean

Washing your face everyday with apple cider vinegar will help to remove oil, dirt and other debris. “To create a natural apple cider vinegar face wash mix ¼ cup of warm water and 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar,” suggests Blossom.

4. Drives dandruff away

Washing your hair with apple cider vinegar can do wonders. “For dandruff free hair and to soothe your irritated scalp, it is the best natural and proven remedy,” says Blossom. Apply it mixed with water to the scalp. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes and then wash your hair.

5. Strengthens hair

Apple cider vinegar can also be used after shampoo and conditioner. Apply it with water and let it sit for a couple of minutes before rinsing it out. “Using it after shampoo and conditioner will help strengthen your hair and make it shiny and lustrous,” adds Blossom.

6. Burns fat

ACV is a natural fat burner and can help you lose weight. It works by increasing body’s metabolic rate that allows you to burn calories faster. It helps to alkalise the body and prevents you from becoming too acidic. ACV is also an appetite suppressant which means it can keep the hunger pangs at bay. Drink 1tsp of ACV mixed with water before each meal for best results.
