Besides consuming a nutritious, well-balanced diet, engaging in regular exercise, getting quality sleep and skillfully managing stress, incorporation of specific essential oils into our wellness regime can work wonders for our immunity as well! Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts that serve therapeutic and antiseptic properties, keeping diseases at bay. Many essential oils are being used in different parts of the world, owing to their positive impact on our immunity. These oils may either be applied topically or post considerable dilution with a carrier oil. Alternatively, they can be diffused into the ambient air using a variety of diffusers.

1. Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil is an efficacious essential oil that is extracted from the leaves of a native Australian plant; Melaleuca alternifolia. The Aboriginal in Australia are known to have used this oil to treat skin irritations, common colds, and flu. It has antiseptic, antibacterial, antiviral and anti-fungal properties which target a multitude of viral infections and illnesses. It is also a gentler essential oil which makes it suitable for regular use.
How to use- Diffuse tea tree oil with the help of a diffuser and reap the benefits of its immune-boosting properties.
2. Lavender Oil
Besides its luxurious aroma and calming effect, lavender oil is one of the most popular essential oils that is being used since the ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman civilization. It is infused with anti-microbial, anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties that is proven to be beneficial for skin care, hair care and overall wellness.
How to use- Use 2-3 drops of lavender oil, along with a suitable carrier oil, to massage on the body. You may also use it in a diffuser to cleanse the air and establish a fragrant, calming ambience.
3. Eucalyptus Oil
Eucalyptus oil is widely used as a decongestant for respiratory ailments. Its minty aroma refreshes, rejuvenates and vitalizes the mind and body. Besides, it has antibacterial and anti-viral properties which help boost your immunity!
How to use- Add 2 drops of eucalyptus oil to your handkerchief, to inhale and relieve symptoms of cough, cold, congestion, or a headache. You may also add 2-3 drops to a diffuser.
4. Peppermint Oil
A popular ingredient in ancient medicine, peppermint oil is a versatile oil serves anti-fungal and antibacterial properties. It is known for its high menthol content that refreshes and perks up mood, besides being beneficial when it comes to fighting coughs, colds, fevers, headaches and sinus.
How to use- Use 2 drops of peppermint oil with a carrier oil and apply it on your chest to ease traces of cold and cough. Alternatively, add a few drops of the same to a diffuser to cleanse your ambience.
