The Lagaan Reunion Happened and This is What You Need to Know

It’s been 20 years since the Aamir Khan starrer, blockbuster Lagaan released, the third Indian movie to get an Oscar nomination in the Best Foreign Film Category. The sports period drama that also featured Yashpal Sharma, Suhasini Mulay, and English actors Rachel Shelley and Paul Blackthorne was directed by Ashutosh Gowariker and the music was composed by AR Rahman. The movie also marked the production debut of Aamir. On June 15th, the members of the iconic movie team including Rachel and Paul had a virtual reunion. AR Rahman shared a screenshot of the nostalgic get-together.

The get-together will be streamed by Netflix India as part of a special celebratory reunion titled Chale Chalo Lagaan - Once Upon An Impossible Dream on it's YouTube channel. The announcement was made on June 15th. Now that’s something to look forward to since the movie won global acclaim and was widely appreciated.

Aamir revealed in interviews to the media that till about 5 months ago he was in touch with the entire cast through a group on WhatsApp. He also took to Instagram to post a video from Aamir Khan Productions’ handle. In the video, Aamir, dressed in military uniform, thanked filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker for giving him the opportunity to be a part of such an epic story.

“Firstly, I want to thank Ashutosh (Gowariker), and the entire cast and crew, and the partners as well as the entire exhibitor sector for their support. I also want to extend my thanks to the seniors of the film industry who stood behind the project and showered so much praise on it,” the actor said in the Instagram video.
