The best shows and movies to obsess over this summer this June and July

Whether you're dodging the sun or dodging reality, June and July are serving the perfect excuse to stay inside and binge. From chilling sequels and dreamy love triangles to delicious Kapoor family drama, this season’s screen lineup is stacked with everything we love: chaos, chemistry, and a little bit of creepy doll action. Ready, set, spiral.

Squid Game 3, June 27, On Netflix

For those still reeling from season two’s cliffhanger, here’s an upside: The final season didn’t take too long to get here (they were, after all, shot back-to-back). We’ll get all of our questions answered this time as the universe expands with a roster including Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, and Park Gyu-young joining returning stars Lee Jung-jae and Lee Byung-hun.

Param Sundari, July 25, In theatres

Actors Sidharth Malhotra (Param) and Janhvi Kapoor (Sundari) are teaming up—for the first time ever—for Dinesh Vijan’s upcoming romcom. Set in Kerala, the story revolves around a North Indian and a South Indian unexpectedly falling in love, and the drama that ensues. Sure, we have seen this trope before, but are we still booking tickets as we write? Yes.

Stick, June 4, On Apple TV+

Pryce Cahill is a washed-up golfer whose career took a nosedive 20 years ago. After his marriage goes kaput and he loses his job at a sporting goods store, Pryce bets everything on a troubled teen golf phenomenon, Santi. Owen Wilson stars and exec-produces this 10-episode feel-good comedy. The official logline reads: “A found family and their relationships set within the world of golf as it has never been shown before.”

Materialists, June 13, In theatres

It’s been barely two years since we recovered from the emotional wreck that was Past Lives, and Celine Song is back with another love triangle. Written, directed, and produced by Celine, this romcom follows an ambitious New York City matchmaker (Dakota Johnson) who finds herself torn between the perfect match (Pedro Pascal) and her imperfect ex (Chris Evans). The cast also includes Zoe Winters, Marin Ireland, Dasha Nekrasova, Louisa Jacobson, and Sawyer Spielberg. We’re certain you won’t NOT love everything that you just read!

Dining With The Kapoors, TBD, On Netflix

There aren’t enough “fabs” (Kareena voice) in the world to convey how excited we are for this one. What happens when you put the Kapoor family on one set, wherein they talk about their personal lives and love for cinema set against a backdrop of delicious meals? We’re about to find out! In a statement, actor Armaan Jain, first cousin to Ranbir Kapoor, shared, “This has been one of the most incredible and emotional experiences of my life.”

M3GAN 2.0, June 27, In theatres

And here we thought the murky little doll was done terrorising us! After being destroyed by her owner, Gemma (played by Allison Williams), M3GAN returns—and we’re gonna need a minute. So, Gemma is now a well-regarded author who advocates for government oversight of A.I. And when she and her niece, Cady, discover that M3GAN’s tech has been stolen to create a military-grade weapon called Amelia, Gemma decides to resurrect M3GAN to help destroy Amelia.
