The Emmy-winning show is back, with a French Riviera twist.

'The White Lotus' checks into France: All you need to know about season 4

Ever since The White Lotus wrapped its third season in Thailand, fans have been waiting to see where creator Mike White would take his signature cocktail of wealth, dysfunction, and murder next. The wait is now finally over, as season 4 is officially in production, and like every installment before it, the new chapter promises a fresh location, an all-new ensemble, and another deeply uncomfortable look at privilege.

If the first three seasons taught us anything, it’s that no luxury vacation is ever just a vacation in the world of The White Lotus. From Hawaii to Sicily to Thailand, the show has built a reputation for pairing picturesque locations with tension and at least one ominous death. Season 4 is continuing that tradition, but this time, with a distinctly European twist.

Welcome to the French Riviera

The White Lotus season 4 is heading to France, specifically the sun-soaked, ultra-exclusive region of Saint-Tropez. The filming is centred around the lavish Château de la Messardière, a 19th-century palace-turned-hotel overlooking the Mediterranean.

The production has already begun and is expected to continue through October, with additional filming in nearby hotspots like Paris and possibly Monaco.

The fourth season is expected to unfold during the Cannes Film Festival, following a new bunch of guests and employees.

A quick recap

At its core, The White Lotus is an anthology series that follows a group of wealthy guests and hotel staff over the course of a week at a luxury resort. Each season opens with a death, then rewinds to show how everything unravels.

Season 1, set in Hawaii, explored colonialism, class divides, and entitlement. Season 2 in Sicily leaned into sex, power, and relationships. Season 3, set in Thailand, expanded the show’s spiritual and existential themes.

Despite changing locations and characters, the formula remains consistent: a death, rich people, unresolved issues, and a descent into chaos.

What to expect from season 4

Like every season, The White Lotus season 4 is bringing together a stacked ensemble cast. Some of the confirmed names include Helena Bonham Carter, Alexander Ludwig, Steve Coogan, Rosie Perez, Sandra Bernhard, and Vincent Cassel, among others.

With some of Hollywood's biggest names and rising stars coming together, expect a mix of chaotic guests, morally grey characters, and at least one person who absolutely should not be on a vacation.

While the plot details are tightly under wraps, creator Mike White has hinted that season 4 may explore themes of fame and validation.

And yes, you can safely assume there will be a dead body. Because there’s always a dead body.

With a glamorous new setting, a high-profile cast, and fresh themes to explore, The White Lotus season 4 already feels like another must-watch chapter. While the official premiere date has not been announced yet, the show is likely to arrive sometime in late 2026 or even 2027.
