13 Things You Can Learn About Getting Over Cheating From Beyoncé

1. Get it all out. Beyoncé unleashed about one zillion feelings and emotions about infidelity in Lemonade — anger, hurt, sadness, jealousy, feeling crazy — and it was clearly very cathartic. Keeping your emotions bottled up could literally kill you, so make like Beyoncé and talk about this shit to your friends, your mom, your therapist, and to maybe the entire world (if you're super famous).

2. Know your worth. As Beyoncé sings with, "Who the fuck do you think I am? You ain't married to no average bitch, boy," and, "It's such a shame, you let this good love go to waste," you must know the value of yourself and your ~glorious~ love. Both are huge, so don't settle.

3. Get mad at the person your partner cheated with. "I don't wanna lose my pride but I'ma fuck me up a bitch." You gotta let it all out! If you need to scream about keying her new car and burning her ugly clothes, scream it! (But, uh, don't actually do any of that for three reasons: 1. You're not actually nuts, 2. You won't feel better afterwards, and 3. You might get arrested. You, like Queen Bey, are better than that noise.)

4. But remember, the real issue isn't about the other person, it's about you and your partner. That other person could be any ol' dummy, and the real issue is not with them. Make like Bey and tell your cheating-ass partner to, "Just give my fat ass a big kiss, boy / Tonight I'm fucking up all your shit, boy."

5. Look amazing, if you feel like it. You're #1 so always take care of yourself first. That doesn't mean you shouldn't cry and feel like a mess — you have to! — but remember to treat yourself with love and kindness. In conclusion, this should be you on the days you feel like showering:

6. Trust your gut. You can often tell when your partner is lying. If you suspect you're being cheated on, there's a good chance you are. You know the warning signs — waiting up for your partner past midnight, another woman's perfume — so heed them. Beyoncé speaks over and over again about how she knows about the cheating and the lying.

7. Know that people in happy relationships cheat. As a nation (yes, a NATION), we look up to Bey and Jay's love as a shining example of #relationshipgoals. However, a study out of Rutgers found that 56 percent of men and 34 percent of women who had affairs said their marriages were happy. No relationship is perfect, and cheating can happen to anyone.

8. Being cheated on is one of the worst feelings in the world, and you just have to live through it. It can honestly feel like the other person is trying to destroy everything you hold dear. As Beyoncé sings, "Are you aware you're my lifeline, are you trying to kill me?"

9. Cheating can make you feel, well, "crazy," and that's OK. In a tale as old as the world's first cheater, people have been wondering: "What's worse, looking jealous or crazy? Jealous or crazy? / More like walked all over lately, walked all over lately, I'd rather be crazy."

10. Reconcile, if the other person is worth it. Obviously Jay Z is worth it, but is the same true of your significant other? Think long and hard if you walk the long path of forgiveness with that person. If you do decide to work on your relationship with them, you need to come at from a place of real acceptance. As Bey sings, "Ten times out of nine, I know you're lying /  But nine times outta ten, I know you're trying." If the person who cheated feels genuine remorse and is trying really hard to be better, acknowledge that, because you can't punish them forever.

11. Long-term relationships require a lot of work. Bey sings, "Every promise don't work out that way," and it's not hard to interpret that as saying relationships are unpredictable and hard! You make a promise and you think it's going to be a fairy tale, but you will be tested. However, if you both can work together, it's more than worth it.

12. Cheating can inspire real, positive change. If Beyoncé's 18 lyrics about cheating from this one album mean anything, it's true that cheating can force people to confront what's really going on beneath the infidelity and hopefully tackle those issues head-on. Talking with your partner is the most healing and meaningful thing you can do.

13. Don't give that cheater a second chance. If you want and the relationship is worth it, you can forgive them once and build a stronger bond together. But twice? Fuck that. As Bey sings, "This is your final warning / You know I give you life / If you try this shit again you gon' lose your wife."
