Summer is all about clear skies, vibrant hues, and pretty blooms. It’s about swapping your wintry clothes with bright-coloured dresses, stocking up on sunscreen and smudge-proof make-up, and dressing up your nails to look summer ready.

And what better way to do it than to add dainty floral nail art to your look? The trend is quite the rage at this time of the year. The stars love sporting it—we can’t get over Blake Lively’s dried flower-pressed nails or Athiya Shetty’s minimalist nails with daisies on a clear nail base.

Take a cue from Instagram to don the floral aesthetic this season.

Sunflower chic

Is it really summer without sunflowers? We love these nails that paint a peppy, vibrant picture. Get a canary yellow hue for the base and add flowers to feel the summer vibe.

Trendy neon

Here’s some cool nail inspo to elevate your casual look. If you do not want to draw a lot of attention, mix it up with two or three neon hues like lemon, green, or pink. White or cream flowers will further subdue the neon effect.

Mini florals

Minimalist nails are forever trendy. Mini flowers drawn on a plain French base, on the tips or on a single nail make for a neat look. It goes perfectly with all your attires.

3D nails

This eye-popping nail art could not be left off the list. Wear them for a night out or for a beach holiday, these nails will surely make heads turn. It’s where texture-meets-hue-meets-style.

Flower Frenchies

We’re always going to be a fan of classic French tip nails. Add blooms on the tip and you are ready for a day out in the sun. Go with a square or rounded tip and finish with a translucent top-coat to seal in the look.

Sakura calling

The Japanese cherry blossom-look is also quite the obsession! Sakura signifies springtime in Japan and these nail art designs are apt to welcome the hot months. Go with dainty designs, add a gold outline or two, or create watercolour flowers. It’s as sophisticated as it gets.

Rosy hues

This one screams vintage with elegance. Roses on your nails are all about a sweet summer romance. Choose a shade from baby pink, deep pink or red. Wear it with solid-coloured or pastel outfits for the best effect. For the daytime, we suggest white roses on a beige nail base, and a darker base for a soiree. Paint on your brightest roses!

Dried flowers

This trend is here to stay and we are all for it. Stylists use actual dried flowers (stems removed) and place them on the nails as per the design. They are painted with a top coat to seal in the flowers. Carry the summer scent with you, all day.

Sucker for succulents

This trend is for all those who love flaunting a green thumb, quite literally! Australian botanical artist Roz Borg kick-started the trend when she posted pictures of the look on her Instagram account. Borg pasted the plants using a special adhesive that doesn’t damage them. You can tone things down by painting the tiny succulents on your nails.

Spring garden

Why stop at a few florals here and there? Go all out and paint up a garden on your fingertips. Either opt for a monochromatic colour palette or try multi-hued nails on which you can paint your green shrubbery. Add on a butterfly or two for the complete look.
