Does a shudder run down your spine every time you think of shampooing your hair? That’s because you panic every time you rinse your hair, clumps of them stick to your fingers or clog the drain. It can be heart wrenching to go through this feeling. But don’t worry yet! You might be just be going through seasonal hair loss. Veteran beauty expert, Blossom Kochhar, explains, “Hair loss in monsoon is because of the humidity and the sweating. At times, there could be a fungal infection on the scalp too, which happens to a lot of people during monsoon. Many people don't realize that the hair tends to be dry but the scalp remains wet because of the sweating, when they don’t wash or shampoo their hair as much as they would normally do. Hence, one should shampoo regularly. The season also makes the hair limp and damp and people tend to keep the hair tied up mostly. Not washing and keeping the hair tied up can cause mild fungal infection and dandruff.” Another common problem that most of us face is frizziness. This is again due to the high moisture levels in the air. Blossom recommends easy and effective DIY hair masks that you can make at home and apply on your hair to tackle all these problems.
Mask for Dry and Brittle Hair

Mix it well and apply it on your hair.
Leave it on for 15-20 minutes and then wash it off.
Mask for Dry, Coloured Hair
Moisture treatment is important if you have dry, brittle, frizzy and coloured hair.
Take 1tsp of glycerine, add castor oil to it especially if you have fine hair. If you have thick hair, add olive oil if hair is too thick.
Add a little vinegar and shampoo to this mixture to hold it all together. Apply it on your hair, massage on the scalp. Leave it on for about 20-30 min and rinse it off.
Mask for Frizzy hair

After shampooing, apply this mixture in your hair. You can rinse it out or even leave it on till the next wash.

Alternatively, after shampoo, add a few drops of lavender to plain rice water. Apply this mixture to hair and then rinse it.
Besides, hair masks there are other things that you need to do to get lustrous, shiny and thick hair. Get a hot oil massage done before shampoo, at least once a week. “Since we are in air-conditioned rooms mostly, our scalp tends to get itchy and dry,”s ays Blossom. Don’t forget to condition the ends of your hair after every wash. Use a hair serum on the ends of the hair. Try these remedies for bouncy, smooth and healthy hair.
