Hollywood’s current golden girl Sydney Sweeney might just be gearing up for her most high-octane role yet. The Euphoria and Anyone But You star is reportedly in the running to become the next Bond girl in the upcoming instalment of the James Bond franchise. With the 27-year-old actress currently riding a wave of career success, her name has emerged as the top contender for the role in what will be the franchise’s next era.

The film, which marks a new chapter for 007, is set to be directed by Denis Villeneuve, the visionary behind Dune. Villeneuve is said to be strongly backing Sweeney for the part, impressed by her charisma, range, and rising influence, particularly among younger audiences. With the Bond series looking to evolve and remain culturally relevant, Sweeney’s casting would signal a stylish and timely update.

Insiders say she’s not only earned the director’s vote of confidence but also has the quiet support of Amazon’s upper ranks. Since the company took over creative control of the franchise, it has been actively steering the series into fresh territory with broader global appeal. Interestingly, Sweeney is also launching her own lingerie line with financial backing from Coatue, an investment firm tied to Amazon’s Jeff Bezos. Her recent appearance at Bezos’s wedding may not have been purely social; it could also hint at the deepening business ties between the actress and the tech mogul’s inner circle. Ben Schwerin, a key player behind the scenes, is known for leveraging celebrity relationships for investment opportunities, suggesting Sweeney’s rising brand power is being strategically amplified.

Beyond the glitz, Sydney Sweeney has proven she’s more than just a screen siren—she’s an athlete with serious range. As she preps to play legendary boxer Christy Martin in an upcoming biopic, Sweeney has undergone intense training, gaining over 30 pounds of muscle through daily weightlifting and kickboxing. Her transformation not only highlights her commitment to physically demanding roles but also makes her a natural fit for the modern Bond girl archetype—equal parts fierce and glamorous, and definitely no damsel in distress.

With Daniel Craig’s departure from the role of 007 after No Time to Die, the franchise is undergoing a major reset. Villeneuve, who recently took the helm, has promised to preserve the legacy of the iconic spy while setting the stage for fresh narratives and dynamic new characters.

If all goes to plan, Sydney Sweeney could soon be stepping into the world of shaken martinis, Aston Martins, and espionage—bringing with her a new kind of Bond girl energy that’s bold, glamorous, and unmistakably fresh.
