Zendaya has had the kind of year most actors can only dream of. Between starring in The Drama, returning as Rue in Euphoria season three, joining Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, swinging back into the Marvel universe with Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and wrapping up the year with Dune: Part Three, she has been everywhere. And after months of back-to-back filming, premieres, interviews, and enough red carpet looks to keep fashion fans well-fed, the actor has announced that she is ready for a break.
Speaking to the media at The Odyssey premiere in New York, Zendaya was asked what comes next once her marathon of press tours is over. Her answer was refreshingly simple. "Oh girl, nothing. Just mind my business, you know? And stay to myself," she said, adding that the constant travel and moving from one city to another can leave your brain feeling "all over the place." She admitted that while she is incredibly grateful for everything this year has brought her, sometimes you simply need to "disappear for a little bit."
This isn't the first time Zendaya has hinted that she is looking forward to slowing down. Earlier this year, while promoting The Drama, she joked that she hoped fans wouldn't get sick of seeing her before promising that she would be "going into hiding for just a little bit" once all five of her projects were out in the world.
And honestly, she has earned it. This has been one of the busiest years of her career, with blockbuster films, a long-awaited return to television, and a fashion run that has dominated almost every premiere. Alongside longtime stylist Law Roach, Zendaya has made 2026 one of her strongest style years yet, turning every red carpet into a major fashion moment.
Fans have been incredibly supportive of Zendaya's decision. Social media has been filled with messages celebrating the actor's incredible run while agreeing that anyone juggling five global releases in a single year deserves some time off. While there is no word yet on exactly how long this break will last, it definitely doesn't sound like Zendaya is walking away from acting altogether. If anything, she is simply pressing pause before returning for her next chapter, which already includes lending her voice to Shrek 5 in 2027.
The break also comes at a particularly exciting time in her personal life. Zendaya and Tom Holland, who got married in a hush-hush, intimate ceremony earlier this year after years of dating, have largely kept their relationship out of the spotlight. While the couple has not shared any wedding pictures or details publicly, a quieter schedule could finally give the actor some much-deserved time to enjoy life off-camera with her husband before diving back into work.
So, if you were wondering why Zendaya might suddenly go quiet after what has felt like the "Year of Zendaya", don't panic. It's all part of the plan. The actor has made it clear that once the final premiere of Dune: Part Three wraps and the cameras stop flashing, she is looking forward to doing absolutely nothing. And after this whirlwind year, that might just be her most relatable—and well-earned—move yet.
