7 Easy Expert-Approved Ways to Manage Frizzy Curly Hair

Someone once said - Every frizzy strand is just a curl waiting to happen, desperately seeking moisture.

Curly hair be thiiirrssty and if you have not been including hydrating treatments in your routine, your are likely to end up with frizz rather than gorgeous curls. Add to that the dreaded monsoon humidity and your hair absorbs in the moisture from the air, causing the hair to swell and frizz.

So, we spoke to Dr Jangid, dermatologist and hair transplant expert, SkinQure about his tips to manage curly frizz and here's what he had to say:

Amp up the moisture

"Curly-haired people seldom brush their hair to maintain their curl pattern. So, it is difficult for the scalp's natural oils to moisturise the ends of your hair. Therefore, opt for the products with ingredients such as glycerine and avoid sulphates and silicones."

Protect your curl pattern

"The hydration and moisturisation does not end in the shower. Use after hair wash products such as gels or serums and hair creams that can maintain and hold your curl pattern."

No more hot water baths!

"Avoid washing hair with hot water even on cold days. You can either opt for cold or lukewarm water and head wash separately."

Leave-in conditioner is a must

"Frizz usually happens in a particular section which is more prone to dryness. The key is to follow up your hair wash routine with a leave-in conditioner. Make sure to use a hair mask once a week for happier, hydrated curl."

DIY masks, ftw

"If you are on teh natural ingredients bandwagon you can also try budget DIY hair masks by using moisturising ingredients such as honey or glycerine. These help locking in the moisture of the hair."

No towels!

"Swap to microfiber towels or even a your old cotton t-shirt, or satin cloth to dry your hair as a normal towel often leads to excess frizz."

Hands off your hair

"Pause your hair obsession…The more you mess with your hair, the more it truly frizzes. Try leaving your hair alone as much possible by avoiding hair dryer, straightening, curling, dyeing, and chemically disturbing treatments."
