Bollywood has had its share of stars who battled with addiction, and here are some of those names you should know about:
Ranbir is known for his brushes with substance abuse, and he’s been quite open about it, as well. He spoke about his fear of being addicted to alcohol, and his ongoing addiction to cigarettes, and how he wants to quit. He also, candidly, admitted to the fact that he experimented with drugs when he was younger.
True to his biography, Sanju, Sanjay has battled with drug addiction for most of his life. However, once his career kicked off, he reportedly went to rehab in the United States and got clean. However, there are still rumours of him taking to substance abuse every now and again.
The now clean actor was addicted to alcohol in the 90s. At the top of her game at the time, it’s not surprising that the actor took to the bottle like many of her contemporaries. She got clean later and has been an advocate for clean living ever since.
The critically acclaimed actor has been very vocal about his battle with drugs. He attributes it to living a high-pressure lifestyle since he was 9 years old. After depending on drugs for his daily functioning for years, he finally got a wake-up call in the form of a freak incident, where he woke up in a pool of his own vomit. Following that, he went to rehab twice and cleaned up his act and currently helps those who are going through the same ordeal.
Saif Ali Khan
The Sacred Games actor has seen his fair share of ups and downs in the film industry, and he reportedly battled an addiction to nicotine. However, a heart attack woke him up to the evils of smoking, and he quit. He reportedly even gave up alcohol.
Fardeen may not have made his mark on the industry, which may be why he took to smoking and doing drugs. In fact, he even got arrested for possession of cocaine in 2001. However, whether he cleaned up his act or not has yet to be confirmed.
7. Honey Singh
The popular rapper went off the grid in 2014, when he was hooked to alcohol. He opened up later about how drinking was adversely affecting his bipolar disorder, and mental health in general, which is why he gave it up completely.
