Born in Jamshedpur, Bihar, to Ashok and Madhu Chopra, who were physicians in the Indian Army, Priyanka saw a simple childhood. Due to her parents' profession as military physicians, she travelled across the country—Delhi, Chandigarh, Ambala, Ladakh, Lucknow, Bareilly, and Pune, to name a few—cherishing the new experience and making memories that would last a lifetime.
At 13, the actor moved to the United States of America to pursue an education and also participated in several theatre productions, studied Western classical music and choral singing. It was not until she entered the Femina Miss India contest of 2000, where she bagged second place, that she forayed into the world of pageants and modelling. She was next crowned the Miss World 2000 and Miss World Continental Queen of Beauty—Asia & Oceania, which subsequently bought her recognition.
It was after this newfound recognition that she began receiving film opportunities. Although, little did she know that one day she would become a household name across the globe, marry a famous American singer, and fly to and fro from India to balance her demanding professional responsibilities. The Priyanka Chopra we know today isn't the Priyanka Chopra of yesterday.
