Arriving at the Rashtrapati Bhawan ahead of the ceremonial reception of the US President, Ivanka Trump opted for a look that is understated, chic and tailored to sartorial elegance. After Melania Trump’s white Herve Pierre jumpsuit yesterday, it was Ivanka who opted for a stylish, white, fitted sherwani-jacket teamed with matching white cigarette-pants, by designer Anita Dongre. A mandarin neckline similar to an Indian Bandgala, button-down front and no-frills detailing completed her look. She complimented her outfit with straight, polished hair and subtle, minimalistic makeup. Speaking about the garment, Anita Dongre says, "Ivanka is wearing a sherwani made out of handwoven silk from Murshidabad, West Bengal. It is timeless, and such a classic - We created this style twenty years ago and it's amazing to see how beautifully relevant it is even today. A powerful, standout silhouette, a sherwani carries the same charisma in absolutely any colour but my personal favourites are the evergreen blue, white and black."
Ivanka's outfit is crafted out of handwoven silk from Murshidabad, West Bengal(as told by Anita), and takes a month to be finished. Additionally, the metal buttons of the sherwani have the signature Anita Dongre elephant logo on them. This look is a stark departure from Ivanaka’s India visit in 2017 when the first daughter opted for intricately stylized outfits made with Indian fabrics such as brocade, with mother-of-pearl embellishments and key-hole necklines. Though Ivanka opted to wear international designers such a Tory Burch and Erdem back in 2017, her look was heavy on Indian influences. This time around, Ivanka opts for a no-nonsense, tailored look for her second appearance, which furthers the personal brand of style she has crafted for herself, one of a feminine, empowered all-American working woman
