If You Loved Sacred Games and Want More, Watch These 7 Gripping Shows and Films

The world has been taken by storm this past week with the Saif Ali Khan, Radhika Apte, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui-starrer, Sacred Games. As we binge-watched mini-series and finished it in a couple of days, we realised how much the Indian entertainment industry has been missing such quality content. That was very closely followed with the sad realisation that we had gone through all eight episodes, and were left craving for more of the same drama, intrigue, and thrill. So we dug deep and found some similar shows and films we could binge on as we wait for the second season to come out.

Gurgaon

Starring Pankaj Tripathi, Akshay Oberoi, and Ragini Khanna, this neo noir film will draw you in with its dark drama and intrigue. It follows the story of the Singh family, where the head of the family is a real estate tycoon. His son is always sidelined and ignored in favour of his daughter. The son is out for revenge and claim a spotlight in his father’s eyes, which leads to many a twist in the tale and consequences that nobody could foresee.

Bombay Talkies

An anthology of four short films, directed by four prominent Bollywood directors — Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee, and Anurag Kashyap — this film is a must watch for anyone who loves film and Mumbai. All four stories are different, but have one common link — Maximum city.

McMafia

This BBC crime drama will have you hooked in no time! Not only does it have a great storyline, but it also stars Nawazuddin as a Indian gangster. Adapted from a book of the same name, the story follows the life of an Englishman, whose entire family belonged to the Russian mafia. His attempt at building an honest, corruption-free life is thwarted by tragic events that force him to look at the family business.

River

If you’re a crime fan, this dark, British mini-series is for you. Haunted by those who have passed on, a senior detective struggles to solve grisly crimes. His mind traps him with old ghosts as he tries to uncover the truth, which may actually destroy him. Poignant, striking, and well-written, River will leave your mind blown.

The Frozen Dead

A procedural crime drama like you’ve never seen before. This French mini-series will take you into the twisted mind of a killer, and a haunted inspector, who is desperately trying to escape it. A psychological thriller, this one will have you on the edge of your seat till the very end.

London Spy

When an MI6 coder is killed in mysterious circumstances, his unaware partner, Danny, is plunged into a web of deceit and intrigue. As Danny starts investigating his partner’s death, he uncovers more than he could have imagined, putting him in danger as well.

Hinterland

If you’re a fan of intense, dark dramas, it doesn’t get much better than Hinterland. The Welsh crime drama draws you into the dark goings-on of the seemingly peaceful and small Welsh countryside. Murder, intrigue, betrayal, and the hunt for salvation will keep you clicking for more.

So, which one will you be binging on next?
