May 21, 2020 marks the first International Tea Day. In 2019, the United Nations (UN) acknowledged the importance of one of the world’s oldest beverages by declaring May 21 as International Tea Day. It was an initiative to increase consumption of tea around the world as it is known to have several medicinal qualities. Chamomile and green teas considered to be the healthiest tea options are used for several health benefits. While chamomile tea cuts blood-sugar levels, green tea helps in weight loss by raising the metabolism and reduces cholesterol. Both also work wonders on tired, ageing and dull skin and have been widely used in beauty products.
