How to Eat MORE and Lose Weight

"People often binge because they are upset, bored, or angry. Eating, unfortunately, is not the right answer. To handle this, it is important to tackle the main issue, instead of just the symptom.

Most binge cycles go like this: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and finally acceptance. Understand the cycle and help break it.

To counter bingeing, I'd say eat more!

Never let yourself get too hungry as it leads to chomping without control. Also remember, eating a big meal after starving earlier in the day, sadly does not work. If you give your body massive amounts of food to digest at one time, it will just store most of it as fat. So no, you can not skip a meal or two, and then eat gluttonously at a party.

It is better to eat smaller meals through the day, rather than all at one go. This is because smaller meals raise the body's thermal effect, which results in an increase in calorie burning.

And if you do binge, it's okay—you're human! Don't torture yourself over it. Instead, go rinse your mouth and resolve to make a fresh start. One binge won't lead to weight gain; only if it happens again and again will it be detrimental.

To get to the root cause, maintain an eating diary, where you mention what you eat, when, and most importantly, why. A week or two of this, and you'll have your answers.

Also make plans for what to do when you feel a binge coming on. Figure out what will work for you and then practice it—maybe having a soup first is a good idea, or munching on some cut fruits or taking a walk or chatting with a friend.

Many of my clients managed to reach their target weight by tackling this one issue!"
