Merriam-Webster Dictionary Has Added 2000 New Words, Including 'FOMO' and 'Hella'

You know how you sometimes describe the amount of love you have for Jon Snow with a simple and succinct 'Hella' and receive judgmental sneers and 'tsks tsks' at the damnation of language by youths?

Well, you can now literally throw a Merriam-Webster dicitonary in their face and walk away with your head held high!

(Although, don't actually throw a Merriam-Webster dictionary at anyone, because it might break their nose. Not that I have personally tried it *nervous laughter*)

The Merriam-Webster Unabridged dictionary has added 2000 new words including FOMO, ICYMI, Nomophobia, TMI and Hella, amongst other internet-produced terms, because despite however much you try to ignore them, you need to know these terms in case you don't want to run to Google (or to the nearest doctor) every time someone informs you that they're suffering from major FOMO after looking at Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez's pictures at the Grammys!

"The new entries and senses offer a kind of snapshot of how exactly our language expands. It doesn't happen quickly—we monitored many of these words for years before they'd met our criteria for entry—and it's pushed by various fields and endeavors," says the Editors of the dictionary.
