6 Things You Need To Know About Apple's New Products

After a long and rumor-filled summer of waiting, the iPhone 7 is officially here! Apple held its annual product launch extravaganza on Wednesday, and not only did everyone get a peek at the brand new iPhone, Apple also released information about a number of other new products. Read on for the 6 things you need to know about Apple's latest gadgets:

1. There's a new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

While Amazon (and Apple's own Twitter) already gave us a look at the iPhone 7 before Apple's big event (whoops...), it's now official: there's a new iPhone, and there are some big changes. Apple said that the new iPhone has a new advanced camera system — the 7S features two cameras so your photos can rule Instagram, nbd — and the best battery life yet, but it also comes without a headphone jack, meaning you need to buy wireless headphones if you want to listen to anything on your phone. Oh, and it's also the first water and dust resistant iPhone, so you know it's extra fancy.

The iPhone 7 comes in five colors, including a very chic black ~matte~ finish, and will be available to order starting Sept. 9.

2. Yes, Apple now makes wireless headphones.

Getting the new iPhone 7 and in need of some wireless headphones? Apple is one step ahead of you. The new Apple AirPods come with a charging case (one that looks a little bit like your dental floss case) and also have advanced sensors that "know when you are listening and automatically play and pause your music," according to Apple. AirPods will be available starting in late October, with additional Beats headphones coming down the line also.

3. The Apple Watch Series 2 is Apple's latest smartwatch.

Anyone who's ever used an Apple Watch knows one annoying feature is that you always need your iPhone with you if you want to use certain apps. But it seems the Apple gods have heard our prayers because the Apple Watch series 2 has a built-in GPS so you can now run completely iPhone-free. The watch also has a water resistance 50 meter rating for swimming and can count laps and track your average lap pace (#fitnessgoals). It will be available in gold, rose gold, silver or space gray aluminum, silver or space black stainless steel cases, and even a new ceramic case too, starting Sept. 16.

4. Apple and Nike have also created the Apple Watch Nike+.

The Apple Watch Nike+ collaboration pairs exclusive Nike Sport Bands with Apple Watch Series 2. The Nike Sport band has been reinvented to have even better ventilation and sweat management, according to Apple, and it comes in four two-tone color combos. The watch's display is also customized to match.

5. Your emojis are about to get so much better.

With the release of iOS 10 this fall, iPhone and iPad users will get access to more than 100 new and redesigned emojis. This includes new female athletes and professionals (#bless), a new rainbow flag and more modern family options. Let's hear it for some woke emojis.

6. And Siri's going to be much more helpful also.

Siri's functionality will be synced with many apps in iOS 10, including Pinterest, Whatsapp, Squarecash, and even Vogue Runway (if you just happen to want to scroll through some hot male model fashion show photos in a moment of downtime). Siri will also call you an Uber or Lyft home if you ask politely, and set up your Skype calls. Whether she can help you get to the top of the A-List in Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, though, is still TBD.
