How To Wear The Biggest Summer Lip Trends IRL

We love a good beauty trend but what works on the catwalk doesn't always work for the office. We picked the 4 biggest lip trends and made them wearable because we're nice like that.

Nude '90s

Brown lips have been everywhere this year and the 90's revival trend shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. As much as we love a brown matte lip, it's not particularly flattering, or comfortable day to day. To make 90's nude work for you, pick a nude that has a slight pink tone if you are fair, or peach tone if you have darker skin. Wearing any kind of matte finish lip product everyday will dry your lips out, which is why I love these Burt's Bees Lip Crayons, £8.99. The finish is somewhere in-between a balm and a lipstick so don't worry your hair won't get stuck in it and they feel very nourishing on the lips. The shade Sedona Sands is the perfect pink toned nude that I can throw on without a mirror, plus they are  made with 100% natural ingredients.

Perfectly Polished

Look no further than Oscar de la Renta's S/S16 show for the perfect red lip inspo. For your very own leading lady lip, apply Burt's Bees Lip Crayon in Napa Vineyard all over the lip. I used the tip of the crayon to draw round my lips first like a lip liner before filling in the rest. A red lip is high maintenance, so for that perfectly crisp line I used a lip brush and come concealer to neaten up any wonky edges.

Blurred Lines

Most editorial trends aren't particularly wearable in everyday life but I actually love how this looks. Start off by using concealer to wipe out the natural colour in your lips.

Try and focus the concealer around the edges of your lips but don't worry this doesn't have to be neat. Fill in the centre of your lips with a bright pink like Burt's Bees Lip Crayon in Hawaiian Smolder and blend out the edges with a lip brush.

Just Bitten

Deep wine stained lips are going to be huge this Autumn/Winter, so get practising now. Unlike the Perfectly Polished trend, this lip needs to look a bit messy. More Edward Cullen, less Marilyn Monroe. Apply Burt's Bees Lip Crayon in Redwood Forest all over the lips and blot with a tissue.

Blotting will give the outline of your lips a softer effect and help your lipstick last all day. After blotting, apply another layer of the Lip Crayon, this time focusing more colour in the centre of your lips. Blot once more for a lip stain that won't budge.
