Boney Kapoor Reveals His Younger Daughter Khushi Kapoor's Career Plans

Take a guess.

It's been a week to the release of Janhvi Kapoor's debut film Dhadak. While there are mixed feelings about it amongst the public, the film fraternity seems to be all praises about the script, as well as the acting of the lead pair. In conversation with HT, Janhvi Kapoor opened up about how grateful she was for the love and appreciation she was receiving for her first film.

Talking about how her father, producer Boney Kapoor, and her younger sister Khushi reacted to the movie, she confessed,

"Khushi was crying… She looked at me and said, ‘Why are you worrying?’ and then started crying again. Papa actually saw the film a month ago, and as soon as the screening was over, he went to the temple. That night he came to my room and held me tight and started crying."

Despite facing the harsh reality of her mother's untimely demise earlier this year, the 21-year-old put on a brave face and dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her debut project, attributing this work ethic and inner strength to Sridevi's upbringing of her. When asked if she would ever consider working in a remake of one of her mother’s hit films, with her father producing it, she shuddered at the thought of it and said,

"It’s daunting to even think about it, as it’s ten times more responsibility. I need to first prove myself to be deserving of such a great opportunity."

Well said, we say. While many feel that for stars, getting their children a break in the movies is as easy as 1-2-3 for them—it is important to note that not all of them particularly desire to do so. Saif Ali Khan has confessed that he always wanted a more stable career for his daughter Sara than the movies. On many occasions, Sridevi, too, had stated how she wasn't exactly excited by the idea of Janvhi becoming an actress.

On that note, Boney Kapoor, in conversation with SpotBoye talked about his feelings—as a father and a producer—towards his kids joining the film industry.

"Khushi first wanted to become a model — but has now shifted her focus to becoming an actress. The unpredictability of the profession was one reason. Sri was a perfectionist, so she put in a lot of hard work- so yeah, she felt that Janhvi should enjoy what her parents have achieved and if at all wants to start working, should get into a profession where there is comfort. We have no fixed hours here, you see glitter and glamour on screen—but it's not easy to set up and enact all that."

And how did he finally give in to his daughters' choice? He said,

"I encouraged her to let her do what she wants. Why curb someone's natural instincts? Like for one, I didn't know until Salman (Khan) told me that Arjun has it in him to become an actor."

Parenting done right? We guess so.
