February isn’t slowing down on the entertainment front, and neither should you. From the return of cinema’s most iconic singleton (Bridget Jones is back, diary in hand) to Robert De Niro’s much-hyped TV debut, this month’s lineup is stacked with big names, bigger stakes, and stories that’ll have everyone talking. Whether you’re craving adventure, drama, or a dose of nostalgia, here’s what deserves a spot on your watchlist.
Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy
February 14, In theatres
If you have not watched the Bridget Jones trilogy yet, now might be the perfect time because the fourth is hitting theatres. In this one, Jones will be flying solo after Mark’s passing, raising two kids on her own. Hugh Grant and Emma Thompson will make a return, plus, you’ll be seeing a lot of Leo Woodall—Jones’ new love interest. Don’t know what you’ll be doing on V-Day, but we know where we’ll be.
Paddington in Peru
January 17, In theatres
One thing about Paddington is that he will do anything for family (very Logan Roy coded— we know). In the latest franchise, the marmalade-loving bear sets out on a mission to find his Aunt Lucy after she disappears from her retirement home in Peru. With the Brown family by his side, Paddington braves the Peruvian rainforest. But in their quest to find Aunt Lucy, they end up uncovering secrets to one of the world’s greatest treasures, in true Paddington fashion. Adventurous!
Prime Target
January 22, On Apple TV+
Another Leo Woodall appearance this year? Shocker. Calling it now: Woodall will be the Internet’s next crush. This eight-episode show, directed by Top Boy’s Brady Hood, stars Quintessa Swindell opposite Woodall. It will follow Brooks (Woodall), a soon-to-be genius who starts to feel like someone’s trying to ruin his big moment. Meanwhile, Sanders (Swindell), an undercover agent, spies on Brooks and reports back on his every move. But as they dig deeper, they realise Brooks might be at the heart of a much bigger conspiracy.
Zero Day
February 20, On Netflix
If American actor and film producer Robert De Niro is making his television debut with this series, you know it must be good. In this six-episode limited series, De Niro takes on the role of former US President George Mullen, who is called back into work to lead the Zero Day Commission after a cyber attack leaves the nation devastated. It will work around the themes of disinformation, power struggles across technology, Wall Street, and the government. Did we just plan your weekend for you? You’re welcome.
Chhaava
February 14, In theatres
In theatres Sure, the whole larger-than-life biographical dramas are a bit tired, but this Vicky Kaushal-starrer—where Kaushal doesn’t look anything like himself—demands to be watched. Big names like Rashmika Mandanna, Akshaye Vinod Khanna, Ashutosh Rana, and Divya Dutta will be seen in this Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj-inspired movie. The title means ‘lion’s cub’ in Marathi, and is a fitting tribute to the Maharaj (king).
The Family Man
Season 3 TBA, On Amazon Prime Video
After 2021, Manoj Bajpayee’s highly anticipated The Family Man will be making a return to television. The third season will have Bajpayee’s character Srikant Tiwari, an intelligence officer for the Threat Analysis and Surveillance Cell, a fictional division of the National Investigation Agency, confronting a new set of threat to national security while also trying to be—yes, you guessed it right—a family man. Written by Suman Kumar and Raj & DK, this series will see some new faces like Gul Panag too.
