Say hello to seasons 3 AND 4! Netflix has confirmed that Emily In Paris will be returning for 2 more seasons, and things promise to get très complicated.
Love it or hate it, you cannot deny the cult popularity of this show that follows the misadventures of Emily (Lily Colins), an American PR professional trying to navigate the tricky intrigues of living, loving and working in Paris. The colourful, frothy and escapist show was an immediate hit sensation, with views from over 58 million households in its first 28 days on the streaming platform. “Emily in Paris” even landed on Nielsen’s list of the top 10 most-watched streaming shows for the week after its premiere.
Showrunner Darren Star has already said that the third season will explore the challenges of making a difficult choice, sharing in an interview:
“She’s faced with a major decision. She has reasons to pick a number of doors at the end of Season 2, and our challenge is deciding which of those doors she’s going to choose and why... That’s what Season 3 is going to be about. When you live in a foreign country, one of the questions is, where’s your heart? Is it the place you came from, or the place you are at the moment? Emily is going to be struggling with that as well.”
The next season will shoot once again at the Studios of Paris on the outskirts of the French capital in the spring or summer. Some other locations are being explored, including London. So far, there's no word on when Emily in Paris is returning to the streaming service, but given that seasons 1 and 2 both dropped in the latter part of 2020 and 2021, there's reason to expect that season 3 would land at the end of 2022.
