Actor Priyanka Chopra and her husband, singer Nick Jonas recently welcomed a baby girl via surrogacy on January 15 2022. While the couple is yet to reveal their daughter’s name officially, the online entertainment website TMZ has obtained the child’s birth certificate that states her name as little miss Malti Marie Chopra Jonas.
What is the meaning of Priyanka and Nick’s baby name?
While the couple has not confirmed yet why they chose the name Malti the Sanskrit origin of the word means ‘small fragrant flower’ or ‘moonlight’. Reports state that this first name has been derived from Priyanka’s mother’s name—Madhumati.
As for her middle name Marie, it could be derived from the name Mary, or its meaning in Latin which is a star.
The child bear’s both Priyanka and Nick’s last names: Chopra and Jonas.
The couple had announced the child’s birth on January 22 in a post that read, “We are overjoyed to confirm that we have welcomed a baby via surrogate. We respectfully ask for privacy during this special time as we focus on our family. Thank you so much.”
