The Vasant Valley School Community Pickleball Tournament celebrates the spirit of sport and beyond

Vasant Valley School knows a thing or two about community bonding, and its latest gathering was proof. Bringing together sports enthusiasts, school alumni, and members of the wider school fraternity, the pickleball sundowner at Rackonnect Exclusive Padel Pickle Park (REPPP), New Delhi, was an afternoon dedicated to friendly competition and the enduring bonds of community. With Cosmopolitan India as the title sponsor and the Bird Group as an associate sponsor, the event celebrated the spirit of togetherness that continues to connect generations of Vasant Valley School students. 

The courts quickly became the centre of activity as participants took to their paddles, exchanging spirited rallies and competing for a place on the winner’s podium. Be it seasoned players or those simply keen to join in, guests brought plenty of enthusiasm to the games, making for an afternoon filled with good-natured rivalry and plenty of cheering from the sidelines. 

Away from the courts, there was plenty to keep guests occupied. While food and beverage stalls offered refreshments throughout the afternoon, a beauty pop-up gave another reason to take a break between matches. The relaxed sundowner setting gave alumni ample opportunity to catch up, meet familiar faces, and spend time with members of the Vasant Valley School Community outside the usual school reunions. 

A dedicated Cosmopolitan photo-op stage offered players the perfect backdrop to pose for photographs and capture moments from the afternoon. Cosmo India also sent each participant home with a customised tote bag and visor cap as keepsakes from the event. 

The afternoon culminated in a medal ceremony celebrating the tournament’s winners. Kalli Purie, vice chairperson and executive editor-in-chief of the India Today Group, and Cosmopolitan India editor Snigdha Ahuja presented medals to the winning participants. Raj Singh Bhandal, trustee of Vasant Valley School, who had also participated in the tournament, was among the winners, bringing the sporting festivities to a fitting close. 

With its mix of sport, socialising, and community spirit, the sundowner served as a reminder that some of the strongest connections formed during school years continue well beyond the classroom. This also highlighted the Vasant Valley School Community's spirit of fostering lasting connections through shared experiences and an unabashed love for sport. And, as the last matches wrapped up, Cosmopolitan India and the Vasant Valley School Community had another one to add to its memories.
